The Fort Saskatchewan Traders were an ice hockey team in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. The traders entered the Alberta Junior Hockey League as an expansion franchise for the 1976-77 season. They entered the league with the Edmonton Crusaders (who moved to Sherwood Park in 1979-80). In 2007 a group bought the team and relocated them to St. Albert to become the St. Albert Steel. The team left St. Albert to become the now Whitecourt Wolverines in the 2011-12 season until today. The traders won the AJHL championships in 1984. Bad attendance apparently was the main reason for the Traders relocation.

Famous players who played with the Traders. Dave Babych, Jim Benning, Mike Commodore, Paul Comrie, Clint Malarchuk, Richard Matvichuk, Jim Playfair, Sheldon Souray, Zarley Zalapski, and Shannon Szabados (Just to name a few).

Since the AJHL left there have been exhibition games there but that’s been it.
