Blackfalds Bulldogs fell 3-2 to the Okotoks Oilers in Okotoks Saturday night. Okotoks was still short players due to injuries and dressed 4 affiliate players tonight.

The first period was brutal. The Bulldogs managed just 4 shots on net. Second period wasn’t much better as they only managed 6. In all reality the Bulldogs didn’t really show up to play any form of watchable hockey until the 3rd period. The Oilers managed to score just over 5 minutes into the game. Jackson Rowland scored his 4th of the season on a nice back hand shot top corner assisted by Kade Duell and Kade Turner. Half way through the second period Oilers Zeth Kindrachuk got one of the strangest goals. The former Cranbrook Buck scored a goal from a very difficult angle to make it 2-0. Then two minutes later Western Michigan Commit Sam Huck scored his 12th of the season. When Zeth Kindrachuk cut out from the corner, Hennessey poke checked him, the puck came lose and Huck was there to make it a 3-0 game since no one ever seems to cover him for some reason.

Matthew Hennessey made some huge stops including a Jagger Tapper breakaway in the second and a Sam Huck break to start the 3rd. Then just over 2 minutes into the 3rd Connor Dick scored his 11th of the season.

With almost 5 minutes remaining just like a Bulldozer Tyler Wallace barrels down to get his 24th goal of the season and his 50th point from Brett Meerman who got his 56th point.

Other Notes

Bulldogs next two games are on the road up north against Whitecourt and Grande Prairie. The Bulldogs beat Whitecourt both times they faced them in Blackfalds. 6-2 on October 1st and then 2-1 on October 12th. The Bulldogs defeated Grande Prairie 4-2 September 30th and more recently 2-1 December 17th.

I use to think that Brooks Bandits Hughie Hooker had the coolest name in the Alberta Junior Hockey League until I seen Jagger Tapper.

The Bulldogs have the second least amount of PIMs in the AJHL with 640. The lowest team is the Sherwood Park Crusaders with 534. That use to be a season for most people personally🙂🤪. The most penalized team is the Fort McMurray Oil Barons which have an Oggie Ogelthorpe approved 931 PIMs.

Attendance in Okotoks was announced at 995.

The final shots were 21-20 for Okotoks.

The Bulldogs ended up getting 2 points out of the weekend so I guess its better than a man bun👍
