The Bulldogs were in Whitecourt at the Scott Safety Centre Friday night. Those players benches don’t look that safe, or at least that good. They may as well be behind the teams goal net. I’ll get more into that later.
The Bulldogs got off to a good start and Brent Meerman scored. But the goal was called off because the net came off, or rather their goalie kicked it off. He could of been watching Matt Murray lately. Thats a rec league move. I know those guys that show up to rec league with their man buns and wheelie bags drinking tea. Then complaining because there are no Cosmo wine spritzers in the beer cooler that they would of never dimed up for in the first place. Don’t be that guy. Not cool.
Tyler Wallace scored his 25th goal of the season exactly 12 minutes into the 1st period from Meerman and Jacob Dennis. Then with just under 2 minutes remaining in the 1st while on the Power Play David Brandes took a shot from the point that was tipped by Jayden Joly to make it 2-0 Bulldogs. Connor Dick got the second assist on that goal. I am going to really watch how I word plays certain players do together. 🤪
Chase Broda scored a pair of goals in the second period (one may of been tipped). After their second goal Joly replied just moments later for his second of the night from Wallace and Meerman.
Zolin got a little too aggressive playing out of his net and then thanks to a weird bounce they scored. We’ll blame it on climate change. But like the Bulldogs did last time the Wolverines scored, they tied it up. Brendan Ross scored a goal on his knee while falling as he was coming down the left side. 4-3 Bulldogs. It got a little scary at the end when the Wolverines got a few chances. Zolin made a few key saves including one where he owes Carter Patterson a big thanks.
Other Notes
Bulldogs are in Grande Prairie Saturday to play the Storm.
Bulldogs out shot the Wolverines 36-28.
Tanner Willick was again out of the lineup for the Bulldogs due to injury.

Back to the boards. The second period has to be a nightmare sometimes making changes on the fly. It might not be as bad to play with as it looks to the spectator. I don’t think I have seen that in an arena since the 80’s and usually a small town barn where only pee wees and old timers play in.
In other games tonight Brooks hammered Drumheller 11-1. Don’t really know what to think of that.
