This is the 4th meeting of the year between the Bulldogs and the Okotoks Oilers (Bulldogs won 1 Oilers won 2) and Saturday night they played at the Man Bun arena. This is their final time there this season. The next 2 are in Blackfalds. Tonight started out great then it began to look like the Bulldogs were going to battle the Olds Grizzlys to get a better Tee Time in March.

Okotoks didn’t even come on that strong at the end. The Bulldogs looked like they just gave it to them. Its probably a good thing that game was in Okotoks and most people in Blackfalds don’t have Hockey TV. I will try to start with the good. Carter Patterson had a great game scoring his first as a Bulldog then getting an assist on a Jason Siedem short handed goal in the second period. Kody Willick scored in the third period and the Bulldogs had a 3-0 lead with 14 minutes left in the game. This one looked like it was in the bag.

The bad. They let a kid wearing a birdcage skate circles around them. What makes it even worse is I seen those same circles skated by minor hockey kids at the intermission in Blackfalds during their games around the cones. Gavin Garland had 2 goals and an assist and Brent Huxley had 2 assists while the Oilers went on to score 4 unanswered goals in the third period to win the game. That is not taking away from Garland who is a great player, its just he didn’t have to do much.

I wouldn’t worry about that loss affecting the Bulldogs with their future games as there is no way in the world they could ever repeat a game that bad.

Other Notes

Bulldogs next game is Friday February 3rd vs the Canucks in Calgary and then at home on Saturday against Calgary.

1000 people in attendance in Okotoks.
