This will be the 5th of 6 meetings between the Rebels and the Tigers this season with Red Deer being 3-0-0-1 so far.

At 10:14 of the first period Martensville, SK native Hunter Mayo scored on a nice wrist shot from the high circle while on the Power Play. Assists to Jace Isley and Christoffer Sedoff. That was it for scoring in the first period as the Rebels out shot the Tigers 12 to 4 that period. The Tigers played like utter garbage that period which was good for the Rebels. But the Tigers woke up a tad in the second.

At 4:23 of the second period Cessford, Albert’s Shane Smith scoops up Dallon Melin’s rebound to make it a 1-1 game. Thats Smith’s 17th goal of the season assisted by Melin and Cayden Lindstrom. Smith is currently in third place in rookie scoring in the Western Hockey League. Then about 2 minutes later while the Tigers were on the power play Chetwynd native Cayden Lindstrom was left wide open for what seemed to be an eternity and fired in his 15th of the season from Andrew Basha and Oasiz Wiesblatt. Making it 2-1 Tigers. Then at 9:58 of the second period Brendan Lee scored from almost the exact same spot as Lindstrom did earlier to give the Tigers a 2 goal lead. Assists on that goal were to Kurtis Smythe and Tyler MacKenzie.

An Oasiz Wiesblatt charging major was the nail in the coffin for any hope of the Tigers of holding on to a lead they didn’t deserve. At 14: 52 of the 2nd period Kai Uchacz scored his 42nd goal of the season on the Power Play assisted from Jayden Grubbe and Jace Weir. Then at 16:46 Mats Lindgren scored from Jace Isley and Jhett Larson to make it a 3-3 game.

Frantisek Formanek scored his 10th of the season 1:18 into the third period to make it 4-3 Rebels on the Power Play. Assists on the goal to Mats Lindgren and Ben King.

Shane Smith scored his second goal of the game to tie it up at 4 at 3:37 of the third period. Assists on the goal to Andrew Basha and Reid Andersen. In overtime Kai Uchacz got a breakaway pass from Jayden Grubbe at 3:34 to score the winner for the Rebels.
