The last time the Red Deer Rebels played the Kelowna Rockets was February 15th, 2020 in Kelowna. The Rebels won 3-2. The last time the Rockets came to Red Deer was way back on November 16th, 2018 and Red Deer won that game 7-0. If you want to go back to the last time the Rockets beat the Rebels, that would be December 16th, 2016 when the Rockets beat the Rebels 3-0 in Red Deer.

Ollie Josephson opened up the scoring for the Rebels just 2:42 into the game sneaking in a backhander past Rocket goalie Talyn Boyko. Josephson’s 4th goal of the year assisted by Dwayne Jean Jr and Quentin Bourne. Then at 8:04 of the first period Jace Weir scored on a nice wrist shot from the top of the right circle to make it 2-0 Rebels. Thats Weir’s second goal of the season assisted by Matteo Fabrizi.

At 14:23 of the first period Kai Uchacz spotted Ben King in the slot and King netted his 14th of the season on the power play the second assist on the goal went to Jayden Grubbe. At 3:31 of the second period Jace Isley scored his 28th goal of the season from Jhett Larson and Jayden Grubbe. That made the game 4-0. Turner McMillen scored the only goal for the Rockets at 4:08 of the second period from Carson Golder and Trae Johnson.

42 seconds into the third period Mats Lindgren scored from the point on the Power Play from Frantisek Formanek and Kai Uchacz to make it 5-1.

Other Notes

Rebels next game is Tuesday February 28th in Prince Albert against the Raiders. The Rebels are starting an eastern road trip for the next 4 games.

Attendance at the Peavey Mart Centrium was 4,115

The Rockets outshot the Rebels 30-25. Kyle Kelsey made 29 saves for the win.
