The Hitmen opened up the scoring at 6:19 of the first period when Anaheim Ducks draft pick Sean Tschigerl scored his 22nd of the season tipping in a pass from Maxim Muranov and Riley Fiddler-Schultz. But the Rebels tied it up just under a minute later on the Powerplay when Kai Uchacz scored his 48th of the season assisted by Christoffer Sedoff and Ben King. That puts Uchacz at 48 goals and in a safe blanket for 2nd place. There is no way anyone is catching Connor Bedard’s 61😲
Craig Armstrong made it 2-1 at 7:44 of the first period from Mats Lindgren and Jace Isley. But the Hitmen responded just 3 minutes later when Sean Tschigerl scored his 2nd of the night and 23rd of the season to tie the game up. The assists on his goal were to Riley Fiddler-Schultz and Maxim Muranov. I don’t say it very often and it is a rare occurrence to see but Tschigerl made Rebels d man Christoffer Sedoff look like the biggest pylon ever on that goal.
Dwayne Jean Jr. scored his 6th goal of the season for the Rebels to take the lead at 16:54 of the first period from Talon Brigley and Christoffer Sedoff. Everytime I see the name or hear the name Dwayne Jean Jr. I think its a country music singer. Doesn’t it sound like a guy who would be sitting on a bail of hay on an album cover with a guitar instead of on the ice?
There was no scoring in the second period and none in the third until 1 second remaining on the clock when Calgary’s Carter Yakemchuk scored his 16th of the season from Tschigerl and Grayden Siepmann. It was close and had to go upstairs. The goal counted and this games going to overtime.
In overtime Ucahcz got stoned by Hitmen goalie Brayden Peters saving the game for the Hitmen. Then the Hitmen came down and scored a garbage knuckle puck like goal to win the game. Riley Fiddler-Schultz got a fluke bounce that snuck past Chase Coward for the Hitmen win. Assists on the overtime winner were to David Adaszynski and Carter Yakemchuk at 4;23 to win the game.
