In Game 2 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals, held on Saturday night, the Red Deer Rebels competed against the Calgary Hitmen. Despite a valiant effort, the Rebels lost a heart-wrenching match in overtime, with a final score of 2-1 in favor of the Hitmen. In the third period, the Rebels took the lead when defenseman Christoffer Sedoff scored a goal. However, with just 1:37 remaining, the Hitmen managed to equalize the score. In the first overtime, the Hitmen scored the winning goal after David Adaszynski expertly navigated the Rebels’ defense to shoot the puck into the back of the net. Despite the loss, the team must move on from this defeat and prepare for the upcoming matches. In particular, the Rebels will compete against the Hitmen in Games 3 and 4 at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary. Although the Rebels have shown strength on the road, they will face a formidable challenge from the Hitmen. Finally, the Rebels faced several setbacks, including the absence of forward Ben King due to an upper-body injury, the suspension of forward Craig Armstrong for two games, and the temporary loss of forward Kalan Lind during the game after he blocked a shot.
