Bulldogs are in Drumheller and they have new away jerseys and you can see their numbers this year👍 Nice. I bet every announcer in the league is happy. I noticed that the Bulldogs did the game with Kody Willick on mixlr I tried to listen while I played it on TV but the time delay was off too much. Which isn’t that big of a deal because the guy that calls the Drum games, Razor, does such a good job on calling the games. I always have to respect the guys that can call the games. I could manage the not swearing stuff but I’d let something stupid or unprofessional slip or do too much um erring. A quick line up change- Ethan Morrow started the game in net instead of Noah Davis.
Hadly, Mass native Mathew Hanscom smoked Vann Yuhas, who should have had his helmet done up at 1:37 of the first period. He got a penalty because hitting is wrong. Or maybe his hands were up🤷♂️Either way Hanscom went to the box for telling Yuhas to sit down. The Bulldogs killed off that penalty and then later went on the Power Play themselves. Brendan Ross ended up scoring a goal unassisted on the Power Play. The rest of the period was very sloppy with nothing really eventful occurring. One of the more boring periods of hockey so far this short pre season.
Second period started out again like the first very boring until half way through. If I would of went to Drum and started watching this I may of headed down to the Waldorf hotel for an eye opener. Great place to meet classy ladies in Drum🤔 Noah Davis replaced Ethan Morrow in net at the half way of the game mark. Edmonton native and veteran Adam Raesler scored at 9:52 on the Power Play. Assists on the goal to Vann Yuhas and Easton Adrian. While on the Power Play again the Dragons Three Muskateers made it 2-1 when Easton Adrian scored on a goal from Adam Raesler and Vann Yuhas. And you could see it coming a mile away. The Bulldogs even on the ice all seemed to be watching it. After 2 periods the Dragons are outshooting the Bulldogs 28-15. At this point I started thinking if the team didn’t think of the Waldorf idea themselves and ordered it on skip the dishes and were enjoying beverages on the bench the way they were playing. Ben Winkelmann got a penalty shot at the 4:39 mark of the third. I thought he had it. But Manny Panghli managed to deny it.
But seconds later Brendan Ross scored his second goal of the night with the assist going to Saskatoon native rookie Luke Dahlen. So after Ross scored that goal Razor announcing the game was talking about how much Ross scores against the Dragons and the kick ass playoffs he had against them last season. While he was talking about that Ross scored again this time with the assist going to Connor Dick and Mathew Hanscom.
Winkelmann scored as the cameraman totally missed it 🤪 Maybe the camera man is drinking the Waldorf supply apparently🤔 Apparently Winkelmann went top shelf 🤷♂️Edward Moskowitz picked up the assist on the goal. Looks like the Bulldogs woke up. But this is the Dragons, never get too comfortable. Then Gurkan scored 11 seconds later to make it 5-2 assists on the goal to Strathmore native Nathan Maloney and Bobby Corkery. The Dragons scored (while the Bulldogs scored on their own net) to make it 5-3. Sometimes when goals come your way you have to give some to the other team. Its just the polite thing to do. The goal went to Ryan Henderson and why they gave Yuhas credit for an assist is beyond me but I’m sure he’ll take it.
Dragons make it 5-4 at 10:53 of the third period when rookie and Sedalia, Alberta native Braxton Thornton scored with assist Cash Carter and Jacob Gaudreau. Cash Carter sounds like a kid in a boy band with chains and a gold grill in his teeth. Not a 16 year old hockey player from Drayton Valley, Alberta. Great name Cash. Everybody loves cash. At this point its starting to look like the Bulldogs let up on the gas again. At about the 2 minute mark Drumheller pulled their goalie and then veteran Coy Pighin tied the game up with 1:26 remaining. Assists to Adam Raesler and Easton Adrian. Then Drumheller put their other goalie in.🤷♂️ This game is off to overtime. Nothing was solved in overtime except Drumheller’s Jacob Gaudreau had some great scoring chances. So off to a shootout.
Dragons | X | Coy Pighin |
Bulldogs | X | Connor Dick |
Dragons | X | Vann Yuhas |
Bulldogs | G | Brendan Ross |
Dragons | X | Adam Raesler |
For the Bulldogs Ethan Morrow stopped 22 of 23 shots and Noah Davis stopped 19 of 23. For the Drumheller Dragons Manny Panghli stopped 20 of 25 shots and Ty Matonovich stopped 6 of 6. Matonovich’s short stint almost got him a shutout. Well it technically did if you do not count the shoot out goal.
Bulldogs next home game is Tuesday September 5th at 7 pm in Blackfalds against the Spruce Grove Saints.
