The Blackfalds Bulldogs have recently made a significant acquisition, bringing on board two good players from the Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). The team has secured the services of 2004-born defenseman Aaron Brown and 2004-born goaltender Wilson Maxfield in a trade that saw the Bulldogs exchange the CJHL playing rights to 2005-born forward Ty Mason, who after being released from Fargo of the USHL it appears he went to Salmon Arm of the BCHL instead of coming to Blackfalds. There is also another player the Bulldogs got in a trade in the offseason who is still playing in Cedar Rapids of the USHL.

Notably, Maxfield and Brown were part of the victorious 2023 Centennial Cup-winning Bandits team last season, adding an impressive championship pedigree to the Bulldogs’ roster.

Aaron Brown arrives at the Bulldogs with an NCAA Division 1 commitment to Quinnipiac University, showcasing his potential and dedication to the sport. During the regular season, he contributed significantly to Brooks, playing 18 games and tallying 8 points, including 2 goals and 6 assists. Prior to his time with the Bandits, Brown honed his skills with the Cowichan Valley Capitals in the BCHL, where he played 32 games and managed to score 12 points, consisting of 3 goals and 9 assists, before his acquisition in January.

On the other hand, Wilson Maxfield, the talented goaltender, boasted an impressive regular season record with the Bandits. In 10 games played, he achieved an outstanding 8-1-1 record, showcasing his prowess between the pipes. Maxfield maintained an exceptional 1.67 Goals Against Average and an impressive 0.936 Save Percentage, further solidifying his reputation as a formidable presence in the net. Additionally, he managed to achieve an impressive 3 shutouts.

The thing as a fan I like about this trade is it feels like the Bulldogs actually got something for Tyler Teasdale who was traded to Weyburn for Ty Mason in the first place. I remember Brown from last year I am almost certain that every time the Bulldogs faced the Bandits last season the Bulldogs were shooting on the mullet kid Ethan Barwick though. It will be neat to see and hope they do well in Blackfalds.👍Probably be in the lineup against Okotoks tonight🤔
