The Red Deer Rebels need to grasp the concept that their net area should remain a forbidden territory for opposing forwards. This understanding will significantly improve their performance. On Friday night, the Medicine Hat Tigers secured a 4-2 victory in the WHL, scoring all their goals from close range.

Hunter Mayo fresh back from the Los Angeles Kings training camp opened up the scoring for the Rebels shooting one in from the low left circle to make it a 1-0 game at 3:21 of the first period. Assists on the goal to Dwayne Jean Jr๐Ÿช• and 16 year old rookie and Winnipeg native Matthew Gard.

Shane Smith tied it up for the Tigers at 7:06 of the first period when he scored on a weird bounce from a strange angle. Assists to Brayden Boehm and Gavin McKenna. Thats Smith’s third goal of the season. Utter garbage goal but I am pretty sure Smith don’t mind taking it. After that it was a tie game.

Thomas Mrsic gave the Tigers the lead at 12:35 of the first period. Assists on the goal to 2022 first overall Bantam Draft Selection Gavin McKenna and Captain Tyler MacKenzie. The goal looked like one of those goals that the kids in novice hockey that are like 8 years old get. You know when a bunch of them are just whacking and chopping at the puck and it finally goes in๐Ÿ™„

Frantisek Formanek had a good chance late in the first period when he got a break away. Puck looked like it was bouncing and he couldn’t pull of a good backhand.

Rebels outshot the Tigers 16-13 in the first period.

Cayden Lindstrom made it a 3-1 game when he scored with assists from Oasiz Wiesblatt and Medicine Hat native Josh Van Mulligan at 14:08 of the second period.
