The Bulldogs were on the road in Whitecourt at the JDA arena (Scott Safety Place) on Thursday night and picked up a 5-2 win. Their fifth win in a row.
Those benches in the Whitecourt Arena again are in such a terrible spot. It’s a smaller rink though which adds great character for a junior hockey barn. Not certain but it appears that the boards are right against the far wall in the arena to the point penalty boxes couldn’t even be placed there. I am not even sure it someone can walk behind it. The Wolverines went with 11 forwards and 7 defenseman for the game tonight. Whitecourt announcer does a great job real eager. enjoyable to listen to. There was no away option on Flohockey for the game.

There are 3 Browns in the game line up tonight. For the Bulldogs Aaron and Hunter. And then for the Wolverines Colby Browne. There could of been 4 Browns, but one Brown, Wolverine Elijah Brown was not playing in the game tonight. Aaron and Hunter of the Bulldogs are both Canadian and not related (to my knowledge). Where as Colby and Elijah are American but are also not related.(as far as it shows).

Only 42 seconds into the game former Pickering Panther Alexander Dimitriadis got his 7th goal of the season. With the assists going to Edward Moskowitz and Carter Patterson. Dimitiriatis now has 10 points in just 9 games since joining the Bulldogs.

Brendan Ross scores his 8th goal of the season and makes it a 2-0 game on the Power Play with 47 seconds to go in the first period. Assists on the goal to Tanner Willick and Edward Moskowitz.
Shots on goal in the first period ??? * Lukas Renaud is playing a great game, he has not allowed 2 shots on 2 goals he has had 17 shots. I cheated and I could see the score clock during the intermission on TV. Shots are actually 17-7 in favor of the Bulldogs. There were penalties called in the period also.

At 4:11 of the second period Evergreen, Colorado native Colby Browne got a goal that just trickled out of the pads of Ethan Morrow. Assist on the goal to Georgetown, Ontario native Joey Melo. The announcers called Browne “Downtown” Colby Browne. Now with no offence to the city of Whitecourt I wonder if they mean Downtown Evergreen, Colorado where he is from and not Whitecourt. Evergreen has to be one of the most beautiful and I would imagine expensive cities if not only in America maybe the world. Or maybe it just rhymes. 🤷♂️

Then just over a minute later at 5:20 of the second period a beauty of a backhand by Dakota MacIntosh makes it a 3-1 game right off the face off. From Jayden Joly and Carter Patterson. That’s MacIntosh’s third goal of the season and the Winnipeg native has 7 points in 5 games since joining the Bulldogs.

Less than a minute later Brendan Ross gets his 2nd goal of the night and 9th of the season to make it a 4-1 game. With the assist to Dakota MacIntosh. The goal makes Brendan Ross the leading scorer in the AJHL. Ross has 15 points in 9 games.
Carter Patterson has become and offensive powerhouse getting his 3rd goal of the season walking in and doing it all alone. beautiful. 5-1 Bulldogs. Unassisted. Matter of fact that was such a nice goal, give him both assists on it too. Should be a 3 point goal. 😆

The Wolverines outshot the Bulldogs in the second period 13-10.
Colby Browne scored again for Wolverines to cut the lead to 5-2 at 3:11 of the third period. Assist on the goal to Calgary native Kaiden Wiltsie.
Bulldogs outshot the Wolverines 36-31
Ethan Morrow was solid in net and made 29 saves on 31 shots for the win. Renault made 31 saves on 36 shots. Both goalies were tested well.
Carter Patterson’s 3 points tonight put him just 3 points off his total from last year. He has 7 points now and a total of 10 last season. Its just the start of October.🤔
I should look it up the announcers during the game said the Wolverines have only played the Bulldogs 5 times prior to tonights game and have never beat the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs head back to Whitecourt November 11th.
Attendance was 539 in Whitecourt.
Bulldogs Next game is Friday night against the Storm in Grande Prairie. They are back at home next weekend the 13 & 14th of October when they welcome Charlie Zolin and the Camrose Kodiaks Friday and then the Calgary Canucks on Saturday.

I ended up writing this last year and am still shocked at how the arena in Whitecourt has their players benches.
