The Bulldogs beat the Canmore Eagles 6-1 Friday night making that their 7th win in a row. It also puts them in a 3 way tie for first place in the league with Brooks and Sherwood Park. (Brooks has played 1 less game than the other 2). The Eagles just came off an overtime loss to Grande Prairie the night before.

Layne Loomer opened up the scoring at 13:00 of the first period with the assist going to Edward Moskowitz on the Power Play. This is Loomer’s first game back since September 27th. After Loomer scored as he celebrated he skated up to the penalty box so that Canmore Eagle player Zach Cotu could see his celebration as he left the penalty box😆The camera sadly cut it out.

Shots were 15-3 for the Bulldogs in the first period of play. 15 actually seemed low the Bulldogs were outplaying them in every single aspect of the game.

Dakota MacIntosh left off where he did last game by scoring his 8th goal of the season bunting the puck out of the air. Unassisted on the Power Play to make it a 2-0 game. There was only 1 second remaining on the Canmore Eagles penalty too when they scored.

Edward Moskowitz made it a 3-0 game at 4:39 of the second period. Assists on the goal to Hunter Brown and Alexander Dimitriadis. That is Moskowitz’s 5th goal of the season.

Otto Hanson playing in his first game of the season back from injury scored to make it a 4-0 game at 7:06 of the second period. With the assist on the goal going to Layne Loomer.

Dakota MacIntosh got an unassisted goal at 10:58 of the second period to make it a 5-0 game. That was the end of the game for Eagles netminder John MacPherson. I felt bad for the kid he got no help. It could of been a 10-0 game there really wasn’t much he could of done. San Francisco native Matthew Malin went in and replaced him. MacIntosh made the goal look so effortless and easy. Right after this goal is when I am sure they started loading up the bus.

Canmore local Owen Jones puts the Eagles on the board to make it 5-1 at 16:29 of the second period. Assists on the goal to former Moose Jaw Warrior 20 year old Josh Hoekstra and 20 year old St Louis native Tyler Loughman.

Shots in the second period of play were 14-4

Then at 10:20 of the third period Captain Kody Willick and Kayden Rawji dropped the gloves. Rawji is pretty much the only entertaining player to watch on the Eagles team, besides maybe the goalies.

Brendan Ross scored his league leading 11th goal of the season to make it 6-1 unassisted on the Power Play at 17:54.

Shots in the third period were 14-5. The Bulldogs outshot the Eagles 43-12 in the game. The Eagles couldn’t even muster up the same amount of shots all game that the Bulldogs did in a period.

Three Stars were 1) Layne Loomer 2) Dakota MacIntosh 3) Edward Moskowitz

Ethan Morrow stopped 11 of the 12 shots he faced for the win. In the other end Martensville, Saskatchewan native John MacPherson stopped 16 of the 21 shots he faced until getting pulled after the 5th goal at 10:58 of the second period. Matthew Malin went in and stopped 21 of the 22 shots he faced. If they got a pizza for the ride home on the bus the only guys who should be eating it are the goalies and Rawji. The coach should make the rest of the team sit there and deal with it for the ride home.

Attendance in Blackfalds was 648

Next game is Saturday October 14th against the Calgary Canucks at the EBC at 6pm. Then on Tuesday the Bulldogs play the Drumheller Dragons at 7 in Blackfalds. That will be the last time all season that the Dragons will play in Blackfalds.(unless a playoff matchup occurs) 🤔It’s only October. I like the new schedule for the fact that the Bulldogs can see teams from the north more than once a year. I really hate the fact that they don’t play Drumheller and other rivalries more. Those games against Drumheller are always awesome to watch.

Not that it really matters but I did notice that when John MacPherson was on the bench and he wore a helmet the helmet only contained a half visor.🙄Looking at his birthdate one would assume he would have to wear the full cage there like the players.🙄….. I know its stupid I find the whole visor thing stupid. But if they are going to be stupid be stupid together. I really want the league to push for the refs and coaches behind the benches to have to wear them also so that people get pissed off and they throw the damn rule out the window.

I brought it up when the Bulldogs played Canmore earlier this month at the Showcase. The Eagles seemed to turn off their twitter updates when they play them🤔 Like they don’t use them at all against the Bulldogs and in other games there is updates all game.

This isn’t the first time Willick and Rawji have fought. They scrapped last year in Canmore too.
