The Bulldogs got their 11th win in a row beating the Spruce Grove Saints 5-1. The win marks the first time since the Bulldogs have been in Blackfalds that they have beat the Saints. ( I am not certain if that goes all the way back to Royal/Mustang days)

Hunter Brown opened up the scoring against his former team from Otto Hanson at 12:28 of the first period. Thats Brown’s 6th goal of the season.

Shots in the first period were 12-6 Bulldogs

Dakota MacIntosh makes it a 2-0 game when he scores his 15th goal of the season just 2:17 into the second period. With the assist on the goal to Brendan Ross.

Otto Hanson pots in his second goal of the season to make it a 3-0 Bulldogs lead. Assist on the goal to Kody Willick at 8:46.

20 year old Chicago native Alexander Babich scored a beautiful shorthanded goal at 11:30 of the second period. I am pretty sure that Ethan Morrow wanted a shutout. He truly deserved a shutout, but I am sure that even he can watch that goal on the replay and admire it. Not a bad goal to lose your shutout to really. Former Drayton Valley Thunder forward Steven Kirkpatrick also made a great move and a great pass to make that goal happen. The bigger kick in the nuts on that goal is it was short handed🤪It also at least gives them one nice memory of their time in Blackfalds.

Pass of the Game*🤪

Ryan Shaw was skating back to forecheck when magically the puck came out to his stick like a door prize. He could of been nice and passed it back to Jed but he didn’t, he put it in the net instead. The goal was credited as unassisted but we all can clearly see who got the assist.

I am still not certain how this all unfolded with suspensions. It appears Brandes love tapped a guy in the face with his stick. Really those sticks are so light weight now a days they probably don’t do much damage even if they are busted flat across your face. The kid then got mad and attacked Kody Willick. I heard the Saints player lost a tooth. That could of been from not brushing properly though. The reaction to the hit I think reflected more the score in the game than the action of the hit. It was a little hard also to believe the kids reaction at first as he already took a few stupid penalties in the game. As dirty as it may of been the reaction cost what could of been a 5 minute powerplay. Winning the game didn’t seem like a priority or option for them at this point I guess.

Shots in the second period were 7-6 Bulldogs.

Carter Patterson scored an empty net goal at 16:28 of the third period. You read that correctly the Saints pulled their goalie with about 4 minutes remaining in the game🤪It may sound a little stupid but Drumheller did a similar thing last game and scored. The goal was unassisted. Carter Patterson has more points already than he did all season last year and it is not even November yet.

Matt Hanscom played another impressive game. He is more and more making himself look like the defenceman that every other team is going to hate to play against. He is what junior defenceman were like 20 years ago.

Ethan Morrow made 21 saves on 22 shots for the win. Former Medicine Hat Tiger goalie Beckett Langkow made 27 saves on the 31 shots that he faced.

Three Stars were 1) Ethan Morrow 2) Otto Hanson 3) Ryan Shaw

Attendance in Blackfalds was 665

Bulldogs next game is Saturday October 28th against the Fort McMurray Oil Barons in Blackfalds.
