The term “Its a team effort” only goes so far. The term one man can’t win a game is not true. Every person in attendance at the EBC in Blackfalds seen it with their own eyes. We have all seen players steal a game here and there. If stealing a game is the term here Gabe Gratton just committed a theft that would make the Antwerp Diamond Heist architects jealous.
This cheap shot just over a minute in the game made absolutely no sense other than it was pure stupidity and intent to injure nothing more. That kid had a chance to cleanly hit the leading scorer in the league. Lay him right out to the point he could of been Paul Kariyaing on the ice. Instead throws his elbow up and gets a stupid penalty. You took the stupid penalty and you didn’t even hurt him. He laughed. If you would of cleanly connected it could of been the best hit ever. He had more than enough time to think. He chose the cheap shot thats intent. Brandes and Willick got suspended for 2 games for way less than that. Hopefully next time the Bulldogs play the Oil Barons they will have a player worth hitting, then they can meet Matt Hanscom.
Dakota MacIntosh after laughing off the elbow scored his 16th goal of the season at 14:35 of the first period to make it 1-0. Assists on the goal to Carter Patterson and Brendan Gillmore. It made the play of the night for the game also.
Bulldogs outshot the Oil Barons in the first period 17-3 that is not a misprint. The only thing that may be wrong is I think the Bulldogs had more and I can only recall the Oil Barons getting 1 shot that period.
Bulldogs outshot the Oil Barons 14-8 in the second period.
With Gabe Gratton sitting on the bench for the extra attacker former Sherwood Park Crusader Evan Arnold scored with 1:13 remaining. With the assists to Ryan Ringor and Vincent Lamanna. The Bulldogs went into overtime on the power play. Overtime solved nothing and then the game went into a shootout.

Three Stars of the game were 1) Gabe Gratton 2) Ethan Morrow 3) Carter Patterson. Nothing against Morrow and Patterson as they both had excellent games, but the stars should of been announced 1) Gabe Gratton 2) Gabe Gratton 3) Gabe Gratton then maybe make it a special occasion and make it a 4 star night and give him the fourth too.
Gabe Gratton made 50 saves on the 51 shots he faced for the win. With all this talk about Gratton this game Ethan Morrow was no dud either stopping 18 of the 19 shots he faced. He faced some quality shots too when they came down.
Attendance in Blackfalds was 679
Bulldogs next game is Sunday in Olds against the Grizzlys. Then on Halloween October 31st the Brooks Bandits are in town.
In other recent news Alex Dimitriadis received a scholarship to Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA.
I think this kid may want to talk to the webmasters at Elite Prospects. This kid is not 119 pounds. The game sheet says he is 160 and he looks about that when you watch him play. I noticed him first when you go to elite prospects and it shows the lightest people in the whole league. It didn’t sound right and its not. Diflorio pronounced Deflurry-o i heard an announcer say once on tv. Kids from the same town as NHLer Sonny Milano.
It might not look good at a scouting stand point when your weight is listed as that of the make a wish kid that carries the flag out before the game.
With the suspensions and recent departures I was thinking before the game the Bulldogs would of just went with 13 forwards. They called up 17 year old Wade Wallace from the Calgary Flames U18AAA. Wade Wallace is the younger brother of last years Bulldog and AJHL leading scorer Tyler Wallace.
