Max Sullivan got the shoot out winner for the Blazers.

It’s Girl Guides night in Kamloops at the Sandman Centre too you could buy some of the cookies in the concourse. This is the first and only meeting of the season between the Rebels and Blazers. Kamloops won the lone meeting between the two clubs last season (7-4 at the Peavey Mart Centrium on Feb. 17). Red Deer’s last visit to Kamloops was on Feb. 14, 2020 (Blazers won 5-3). Red Deer’s last win over Kamloops was on December 11, 2018 at the Peavey Mart Centrium by a score of 2-1.

17 year old Calgary native Harrison Brunicke opened up the scoring for the Blazers at 11:53 of the first period. Assists on the goal to Winnipeg Jets draft pick Connor Levis and 20 year old Dylan Sydor the son of 2 time Stanley Cup winner and fellow former Kamloops Blazer Daryl. The Blazers struck first with a goal from Harrison Brunicke just past the midway point of the opening period. Wutzke made a great pad save on Conner Levis but Brunicke drained the rebound.

Kai Uchacz responded to tie it up about a minute and a half later at 13:24 for the Rebels with the assist to Frantisek Formanek.Kai Uchacz took over from there, drawing the Rebels even less than two minutes later

Shots on goal in the first period were 13-10 Kamloops

Kai Uchacz scored his 9th goal of the season short handed at 5:18 of the second period to give the Rebels a 2-1 lead. Unassisted.-

20 year old Prince Albert, SK native Ashton Ferster tied it up at 2 apiece on the Power Play at 10:14 of the period. Assists on the goal to fellow 20 year old Logan Bairos and former Edmonton Oil King 19 year old Shae Van Olm.

Samuel Drancek scored at 17:01 or the 2nd period to make it 3-2 Rebels when he redirected a Quentin Bourne wrister from the blue line. The other assist went to Matthew Gard. And later on with three minutes left in the frame, Drancak redirected a point shot from defenceman Quentin Bourne to retake the lead 3-2.

Shots on goal second period were 12-11 Red Deer

Dylan Sydor scored at 12:03 of the third period to tie the game up at 3. The Blazers outshot the Rebels 10-8 in the third period. The Blazers tied the game 3-3 with just eight minutes to go from Dylan Sydor who has 11 goals this season to send it to OT.

5 minutes of 3 on 3 overtime solved nothing (where the Rebels outshot the Blazers 2-1) so the game went to a shoot out 9 rounds to be exact. Where the Blazers (who are in last place in the WHL and wear dresses) beat the Rebels.

Weyburn, SK native Dylan Ernst made 29 saves on the 32 shots that he faced for the win. For the Rebels Chase Wutzke stopped 32 of the 35 shots that he faced.

Three Stars of the game were 1) Dylan Sydor 2) Kai Uchacz 3) Fraser Minten

Since the Blazers decided to give half their team letters this season. Fraser Minten was named the captain when he was sent back from the Toronto Maple Leafs which makes sense. So you have a captain until the trade deadline? It was one game that I seen but this Blazers team does not look like a team rebuilding. They looked better than Portland did last week. They also gave A’s to 5 other players. Just put letters on everyones jersey🤷‍♂️The meaning of a letter sort of started losing ground back when the 3rd assistant captain started creeping into the game.

Attendance in Kamloops was 4,595.

Rebels next game is Saturday November 4th in Kelowna against the Rockets. For game 2 of their 5 game BC road trip.

After Seeing This Online It Is Hard To Take This Team Serious😆

I’m sure they only do this on Halloween too. 🙄🤔 I am sure they had fun and it was for a good cause. Plus it gives there buddies future ammo. On a serious note about one of the most famed franchises in junior hockey this happened the other night.

Former Kamloops Blazer Connor Zary scored in his first game with the Flames. Zary did more for the Flames in those 16 minutes in ice time he got that game than Jonathan Huberdeau has done all season. Let that sink in. Huberdeau makes 84M over 8 years. Congrats to Zary, thats awesome hope to see many more.
