Super Hero night at the EBC. The Bulldogs have had a Super Hero night less than a year ago. It was in February against the Canmore Eagles also. The Bulldogs won that game 4-1. I think the in game host wore the same superman suit too. They honored police and what not before the game. Hard job being a cop or a medic there is no doubt about it. Probably the second hardest job on the planet. Next to being a hockey ref of course. I know a guy who use to ref hockey (junior and pro). He is now a prison guard dealing with junkies, murders, and sickos. He claims that is an easier job than being a hockey ref, he says he gets less verbal abuse there. Ironically enough he says that now that he is in a men’s prison. He told me a woman’s prison he would take being a ref over still๐Ÿ˜† He said a woman’s prison is indescribable bad.

I am still a firm believer that we should honor refs more than anyone understanding that it is a tough shitty job. We can all sit and criticize the ref all we want call them idiots ect. But no one yelling at them could probably do any better. Most of the time.๐Ÿ˜†

Jayden Joly scored his 6th goal of the season assisted by Hunter Brown at 3:48 of the first period to make it 1-0 Bulldogs. Hunter Brown stripped the Eagle D man made another Canmore player look like a fool and found a waiting Joly in front of the net.

Brendan Ross made it 2-0 at 11:50 of the period with the assists going to Matthew Hanscom and Layne Loomer. It appears as if Ross was skating around looking for a team mate to pass to. Once he found no one open he just shot the thing himself.

Canmore got on the board at 13:41 of the period when Swift Current native 19 year old Rhett Dekowny scored his 4th goal of the season. Assisted by veterans Casey Black and Logan Ziegler. That cut the lead to 2-1. But less than a minute later Aaron Brown got his second goal in 2 games to give the Bulldogs a 3-1 lead. Assists on Browns goal went to Connor Dick and Luke Dahlen.

Edward Moskowitz sneaked in and scored his 10th goal of the season at 15:46 with the assist going to Layne Loomer and make it a 4-1 Bulldogs lead.

Former Moose Jaw Warrior 20 year old Josh Hoekstra put the Eagles with in 2 with about a minute and a half remaining in the first period. St. Louis, Missouri native Tyler Loughman picked up the lone assist on the goal.

Shots on goal first was 13 for the Bulldogs and 11 for the Eagles.

After the first period every goal scored from here on out was either on the Power Play or Short Handed.

Tyler Loughman scored for the Eagles short handed to make it a 4-3 game at 13:23 of the second period. Unassisted

Brendan Ross scored for the Bulldogs on the Power Play at 16:21 of the 2nd with the assists to Layne Loomer and Tanner Willick making it a 5-3 game.

Alexander Dimitriadis scores his 11th goal of the season short handed at 18:11 of the second period with the assists to Tanner Willick. This was the first goal the Bulldogs have scored this game on a break away after I lost count of how many attempts they have had on Kieper and he has stopped them.

Shots on goal 2nd period were 17-7 for the Bulldogs.

Tyler Loughman scores for the Eagles on the Power Play to make it a 6-4 game. Assists on the goal to former Bonnyville Pontiac Ethan Look

Jayden Joly scored his second goal of the game to give the Bulldogs a 7-4 lead with the assist to Layne Loomer and Carter Patterson short handed at 12:59. The goal was a crazy forecheck effort from Layne Loomer. Guy is a machine.

Shots in the third period were 16-6 Bulldogs. The Bulldogs outshot the Eagles 46-24 in the game.

Wilson Maxfield stopped 20 of the 24 shots that he faced for the win. Former Kamloops Blazer Matthew Kieper played great for the Eagles but it wasn’t enough making 39 stops on the 46 shots he faced. Kieper played in the Memorial Cup last season with the Blazers. The season before that Kieper was a team mate of Connor Bedard’s in Regina. Now go back further to 2 years and he was a team mate on a midget team in Winnipeg with former Bulldog Dakota MacIntosh. Who by the way looks really well playing with the Moose Jaw Warriors. He has played 2 games and still looking for his first point. Which should come Thursday night when the Warriors host the Brandon Wheat Kings.

Three Stars of the game were 1) Layne Loomer 2) Jayden Joly 3) Tyler Loughman

Attendance in Blackfalds was an even 600 as reported on the AJHL website.

Bulldogs next game is Saturday November 11th in Whitecourt against the Wolverines followed by a game in Grande Prairie on Sunday November 12th against the Storm. There next home game is Friday November 17th against the Okotoks Oilers.
