The last 2 Bulldog games have appeared to be like a Disney Movie. Where the referees are the writers, directors, and producers. And Sam Huck is the child star. Listening to the game also hearing the announcers every few seconds wondering in shock where penalties were. It just seems to much like a hallmark movie.
Okotoks native Brandon De Haas scored his first AJHL goal to make it 1-0 Oilers at 3:59 of the first period. The assists on the goal going to former Medicine Hat Tiger Owen MacNeil and affiliate player Hudson Binder.
Hunter Brown ties the game up on the Power Play assisted by Jayden Joly and Brendan Ross at 18:07 in the opening period.
Shots on goal in the first period were 13-7 for the Bulldogs.
Sam Hall scored for the Oilers to give them a 2-1 lead at 1:14 of the second period assists to Jack Silverberg and Owen MacNeil.
Layne Loomer evened it up for the Bulldogs at 7:45 with the assists from Tanner Willick and David Brandes .
Brett Huxley scores shorthanded and makes it a 3-2 game for the Oilers at 13:38 of the second period with the assists going to Sam Huck and Sam Hall.
Shots in the second were 10-7 Bulldogs
Brendan Ross scored his 19th goal of the season at 6:40 of the third period to tie the game up. The assists on the goal went to Aaron Brown and Carter Patterson.
Hunter Brown scores his second goal of the night to give the Bulldogs their first lead of the game to make it 4-3 at 8:07 of the third period. Assists on the goal Jayden Joly and Layne Loomer.
Tanner Willick left game in the third period and it was unclear why he left. He did not return.
Jagger Tapper then ties it up with 5:23 remaining 4-4 with the assist going to Owen MacNeil.
As the clock dies down in the third I am sitting starting to guess how they will give a penalty to the Bulldogs. There was literally nothing to call and it seemed like the Disney movies script could be interrupted.
Big hit by Ledrew with 30 seconds left in the game. It was clean but I just thought they’d call it as the writers of the show don’t want the Oilers feelings hurt. The ref must of missed it as he would of called it for sure. The whole Oilers team (seriously every one of them on the ice) ran up to the ref after the hit almost like they are telling him “Hey call that, this isn’t what we rehearsed”.
Sam Huck scores again in overtime 33 seconds in with the assists to Alexanders Scheiwiller and Sam Hall.
Alexander Scheiwiller stopped 28 of the 32 shots that he faced for the win. Ethan Morrow played well at the other end making 22 saves on the 27 shots that he faced.
Three Stars of the game were 1) Sam Huck 2) Hunter Brown 3) Owen MacNeil
Attendance in Okotoks 1,045
Bulldogs next game is Tuesday November 21st in Fort McMurray to play the Oil Barons. Then the next night Wednesday in Bonnyville to play the Pontiacs.
Bulldogs Alumni Jason Siedem is dressed for his first game of the season tonight with the University of New Hampshire Wildcats.
Jason Siedem scored in his first game. The New Hampshire Wildcats beat Northeastern 4-0.
Since on to college alumni Tyler Wallace also scored again tonight for Niagara against Robert Morris University in a 4-1 Niagara win.
Kasey Hiemstra also got his first goal for the Mount Royal Cougars on Friday night in a 3-2 Mount Royal Cougars lose to Grant McEwan. (A shorthanded goal too). I wish I could find more to link it to or a highlight but Mount Royal doesn’t really use their twitter or Internet stuff. LINK
