The Rebels have beat the Hitmen 3 of the 4 times that they have played them so far this year prior to tonight. After that game they have beat them 4 out of the 5 times they have played them this season.

Matthew Gard gets on the board for the Rebels just 2:51 into the opening period with the assists going to Jace Weir and Carson Birinie.-opening the scoring 2:51 into the contest when defenceman Jace Weir carried the puck low and fed a cross-crease pass to Matthew Gard, who tipped it home while going hard to the net. It was Gard’s fourth goal of the season.

Ethan Moore ties it up for Calgary with assists to David Adaszynski and Aleksey Chichkin at 10:16 of the first period.-The Hitmen pulled even just over eight minutes later as Ethan Moore raced down the right side and from the bottom of the circle beat Wutzke high to the glove side.

Kai Uchacz gives the Rebels back the lead at 14:25 of the first period with the assist going to Jhett Larson-Rebels captain Kai Uchacz, however, restored the visitors’ lead at the 14:25 mark of the opening frame. Larson kept the play alive at the Hitmen blueline and passed across to Uchacz, whose shot from the top of the right circle caught the far corner past goaltender Ethan Buenaventura.

16 year old Brandon Gorzynski ties it up 1:55 into the third period with his first ever WHL goal. Assisted by fellow 16 year old Salmon Arm native Sawyer Mayes.-The score held until Wutzke fanned on an attempted relay to a Rebels defenceman that led to Brandon Gorzynski’s first WHL goal just under two minutes into the third period.

Shots on goal in the third period were 12-11 for the Hitmen.

In overtime the Rebels got a too many men penalty lol. So short handed for the last 1:05 of overtime. They killed it off. Game ended in a tie then it was off to a shoot out. This is the first time this season the Hitmen have been to a shoot out. On the other side the Rebels have been in a league leading 5 shootouts.

Chase Wutzke stopped 33 of the 35 shots that he faced for the win. While Ethan Buenaventura stopped 30 of the 32 shots he faced for the Hitmen.

Rebels next game is Thursday December 14th in Red Deer against the Swift Current Broncos.

Red Deer was without top-six forwards Kalan Lind (upper body, day-to-day), and Carson Latimer (lower body, indefinite) and rookie forward Jeramiah Roberts (upper body, day-to-day)

The Red Deer Rebels, revealed that the team has finalized a trade with the Saskatoon Blades.

As part of the trade, the Rebels have secured a fifth-round pick in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft. In return, they have traded 19-year-old defenseman Nicholas Andrusiak. Hailing from Tisdale, SK, Andrusiak contributed three assists in 47 regular-season games with the Rebels, following a trade in January from the Portland Winterhawks. Additionally, he notched two assists in 12 playoff games with the Rebels during the last spring season.


The Calgary Hitmen have traded forward London Hoilett to the Vancouver Giants in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft. A product of Winnipeg, MB the 2005-born forward made the Calgary Hitmen roster out of training camp in the 2022-23 season as a undrafted free agent. Hoilett appeared in 87 regular season games for Calgary registering 20 points (14G, 6A).


Last time Carter Yakemchuk was ranked #12 at mynhldraft.com and going to San Jose. He has since moved up on the list. Andrew Basha from the Medicine Hat Tigers is now also on the list.
