Bulldogs ended their 5 game losing streak last night defeating the Okotoks Oilers 4-3. As good as the win was I am thinking every guy in that dressing room owes Maxfield a beer or 20. Maxfield was stellar in his first game since returning from an injury.

Brendan Ross scored just 16 seconds into the game with the assist on the goal to Tanner Willick. That puts Ross within a goal of tying the franchise record for most goals in a season. He has 7 games still left to do it.

Shots on goal in the first period were 12-10 for the Oilers.

Thomas Matte scored for the Oilers at the 2:28 mark of the second period, deflecting a long-range shot by Brennen Hocher to tie the game up. Maxfield would of had that one too had it not been tipped. He seen it the whole way.

Jayden Joly replied back just 26 seconds later to give the Bulldogs back the lead and make the game 2-1. The assists on the goal went to Brendan Ross and Luke Dahlen. Dahlen gave a nice bank pass of the boards up to Brendan Ross who passed it over to Joly who slid it past Green to give the Bulldogs back the lead. During the game too I seen Dahlen and Oilers Huxley seemed to be making a good friendship out there. They kept complimenting each other with hacks and whacks for a good portion of the game.

Hunter Brown gave the Bulldogs a 3-1 lead at 4:17 of the second period with the assists on the goal going to Dakota MacIntosh and James Johnson. MacIntosh barreled down and took the first shot then Brown came in and fired in the rebound to get the Bulldogs up by 2.

Brett Wilson roofed a backhand shot for the Oilers at 19:18 of the second frame with the assist going to Rylan Brown. I have to admit that was a very pretty goal.

Shots on goal in the second period were 20-7 for the Oilers

Dakota MacIntosh scored on the Power Play for the Bulldogs to make it a 4-2 game at 4:08 of the third period. The assists on the goal went to Hunter Brown and Brendan Ross.

Kade Turner got the Oilers within one goal at 11:37 of the third period from Rylan Brown and Brett Huxley

Shots on goal in the third period were 16-3. Yeah Maxfield was a tad busy.

Wilson Maxfield stopped 45 of the 48 shots he faced for the win for the Bulldogs. Boothwyn, Pennsylvania native Christian Green made 16 saves on the 20 shots that he faced for the Oilers. In case you are wondering, like I was ,Boothwyn is a suburb of Philadelphia near the Delaware border. Never heard of the place so I had to google it.

Three Stars of the game were 1) Wilson Maxfield 2) Brendan Ross 3) Rylan Brown

Attendance in Blackfalds was 651

Bulldogs next game is Sunday St. Patrick’s Day March 17th at 2pm in Blackfalds against the Sherwood Park Crusaders. Ironic how its St. Patrick’s day weekend and both of the Bulldogs opponents are green.

In other BCHL games tonight the Spruce Grove Saints beat the Brooks Bandits 6-5 in overtime.
