That was a strange 24 hours to get a win and a loss with both games being complete polar opposites of each other in nearly every way. The Bulldogs fell 7-4 to the Crusaders in a game where they peppered Erik Roest with almost 50 shots and lost. Just like the last time they played the Crusaders.
Carter Cormier gives the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead scoring on a nice pass from Jayden Joly and Brendan Ross at 3:27 of the first period.
Brendan Ross made it a 2-0 game with the assist going to Luke Dahlen. Ross tied the franchise record for goals in Bulldogs Franchise history in a season with that one.
Noah Wills gets the Crusaders on the board at 10:05 of the first period with the assists on the goal going to former Calgary Canuck Connor Frost and Ryan Zaremba.
Thunder Bay, Ontario native Max Leduc ties the game up at 13:37 of the first period with his first goal as a Crusader. The assist on the goal went to William Christian.
Shot on goal in the first period were 21-4 for the Bulldogs.
Assistant captain Cole Assailly made it a 3-2 on a one time shot from the point 5 minutes into the second period while the Crusaders were on the Power Play. The assists on the goal went to Maine commit Nick Wellenreiter and Noah Wills.
Brendan Ross ties the game while the Bulldogs were on the Power Play with the assists going to Carter Patterson and Hunter Brown. This gives Ross the All time lead for franchise points in Bulldogs history. I am curious if a certain other player has already ribbed him about trying to beat it next season. Ross is now 3 points away from tying Brett Meerman’s franchise record for most points in a season set at 94 points.
Dakota MacIntosh gave the Bulldogs the lead and made the score 4-3 at 7:31 of the second period with the assist going to Alexander Dimitriadis after he stole it from a Crusader breaking out of their zone.
Captain Logan Hauer tied the game up for the Crusaders on the Power Play to make it 4-4 at 9:03 of the second period. The assists on the goal went to Adam Raesler and Cade Christiansen.
Zac Maxwell gave the Crusaders the lead and made the score 5-4 at 12:39 of the second period. The assists on the goal went to Logan Hauer and Hunter Price. Wilson Maxfield left the game after that goal and was replaced by Gabe Gratton.
Connor Frost made it a 6-4 game just 14 seconds later with the assists on that goal going to Dylan Bidyk and Zac Maxwell.
Shots on goal in the second period were 16-14 for the Bulldogs
Ryan Zaremba made it a 7-4 at 9:48 of the third period with the assits on the goal going to Cade Christianson and Hunter Price.
Shots on goal in third period were 10-7 for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs outshot the Crusaders 47-25 in the game.
Erik Roest made 43 saves on the 47 shots that he faced for the win for the Crusaders. Wilson Maxfield made 8 saves on the 13 shots he faced while Gabe Gratton made 10 saves on the 12 shots that he faced.
