The Rebels final regular season home game of the season and they got spanked by the visiting Edmonton Oil Kings 7-3 in front of a very full barn. The Oil Kings are not even going to make the playoffs. In fact the Oil Kings should be more concerned about tanking games at a chance to win the Landon Dupont sweepstakes. Make every night 80’s fight night and tank the season.🙄 (I have no idea or did I check which teams have top end picks for the draft via trades ect.)
Former Seattle Thunderbird and Florida Panters 2023 second rounder Gracyn Sawchyn scores his 19th goal of the season at 9:00 of the first period. The assist on the goal went to Port Moody, BC native Parker Alcos.– The Rebels were down 1-0 on an unfortunate break when Gracyn Sawchyn fell when cutting between the Red Deer defence and had the puck go off his skate under Red Deer netminder Chase Wutzke nine minutes into the period.
Shots on goal in the first period were 10-6 for the Rebels.

The assist on the goal to Gracyn Sawchyn.– Adam Jecho then notched his 22nd of the year, and first of two on the night, when his pass from the left boards deflected in off a Red Deer defender’s skate with Red Deer killing off a two-man disadvantage.
Jeremiah Roberts gets the Rebels on the board at 9:03 of the middle frame with the assists on the goal to Quentin Bourne and Kai Uchacz.–Red Deer looked as if they would gain some of that energy and momentum at 9:03 when Jeramiah Roberts slammed home a loose puck during the scramble at the side of Edmonton rookie netminder Hudson Perry.
The Oil Kings leading scorer Gavin Hodnett makes it 4-1 for the visitors getting his 22nd goal of the campaign. The assists on the goal to Skyler Bruce and Rhys Pederson.–the Red Deer defence had a let down and Gavin Hodnett scored at 13:04
Winnipeg native Skylar Bruce makes it a 5-1 game for the Oil Kings scoring his 14th goal of the season the assists on the goal went to Ty Nash and Parker Alcos. Skyler Bruce is probably one of the few players left in the league who actually played a game for the Kootenay Ice while they were still in Cranbrook.
Shots on goal in the second period were 14-7 for the Oil Kings.
Jeremiah Roberts nets his second goal of the game at 3:35 of the third period with the assists going to Matthew Gard and Evan Smith.–In the third period at 3:35, Roberts notched his second goal of the game and his sixth of the season. He made a slick move from the right wing, firing off a swift wrist shot that sailed past Perry in the net.
Adam Jecho scores his second goal of the game to make it 6-2 from Gracyn Sawchyn and Gavin Hodnett at 4:21 of the third period.–But once again the Oil Kings stormed back and Jecho at 4:21

Shots on goal in the third period were 16-9 for the Oil Kings. The Oil Kings outshot the Rebels in the game 36-26.
16 year old Sexsmith, Alberta native Hudson Perry made 23 saves on the 26 shots that he faced for the win for the Oil Kings. Chase Wutzke made 19 saves on the 26 shots that he faced for the Rebels before being replaced by Rhett Stoesser at 5:33 of the third period. Stoesser stopped all 10 shots that he faced.
Three Stars of the game on the net they went with just two Kai Uchacz, Elias Carmichael, and Carson Latimer. We get it they are 20 year olds and they aren’t back next season. What about Lindgren? I know yeah still has a year left, lets be realistic he ain’t coming back as a 20 year old.
Attendance at the Peavey Centrium in Red Deer was 6,360
