The 2024-25 season comes to an end with the Bulldogs falling 4 games straight to the Sherwood Park Crusaders. It was a great season and very thankful for the team and the players for all they did this season. This blog’s season review coming soon, here is the game highlights.
Brendan Ross scored just 28 seconds into the game with the assists going to Aaron Brown and Ryan Shaw to make it a 1-0 Bulldogs game.
Hunter Price tied the game up with his third goal of the playoffs to make it a 1-1 game at 10:43 of the first period with the assists on the goal going to Noah Wills and Kale Dach. Not much could of been done there they had like a 4 man rush there. Very nice goal by the Crusaders.
Hunter Price made it a 2-1 game with his 2nd goal of the night and 4th goal of the playoffs at 17:51 of the first period on the Power Play. Assists on the goal went to Nick Wellreiter and Kale Dach.
Shots on goal in the first period were 15-6 for the Crusaders.
Grand Rapids, Michigan native Connor Gengle makes it a 3-1 for the Crusaders at 2:47 of the second period. The assists on the goal went to Noah Wills and Adam Raesler.
Logan Hauer made it a 4-1 game at 3:20 of the second with the assist going to Ethan Merner. With Hauer hoping on Maxfield as the puck went in the net.
Brendan Ross scored his third goal of the playoffs to make it a 4-2 game at 14:47 of the second period with the assists on the goal going to Jayden Joly and Ryan Shaw
Jayden Joly replies again for the Bulldogs just 8 seconds later at 14:55 of the second to cut the Crusaders lead to1 when he made it a 4-3 game. The assists on the goal went to Ryan Shaw and Brendan Ross.
Shots on goal in the second period were 15-5 for the Bulldogs
Hunter Price completes the hat trick for the Crusaders to make it a 5-3 Crusaders game at 7:01 of the third period with the assist going to Kale Dach.
Cole Assailly dumps it into the empty net. There was 3:09 left on the clock. I knew I would get the chance to say that again this season. The Bulldogs pulled the goalie WAY too early again.
Ryan Shaw scores from the point off the draw (good thing the Bulldogs pulled their goalie earlier) to make it a 6-4 game with the assist going to Alexander Dimitriadis at 18:05 of the third period. Ryan Shaw had a 4 point night.
Ethan Merner scored into the empty net to make it a 7-4 game and Noah Wills got the helper with 16 seconds left in the game.
Shots on goal in third period were 13-7 for the Crusaders. The Crusaders outshot the Bulldogs 33-28 in the game.
Erik Roest made 24 saves on the 28 shots that he faced for the win. The odds of Roest being around next season in the BCHL are probably NIL Odds are he will be with Cornell next season. Kind of shocked he wasn’t there this season, as I am just as shocked as it took me until now to realize that his name has an extra “c” in Erik. Gabe Gratton made 26 saves on the 31 shots that he faced in his last game of junior hockey. He is certain to get picked up by a college team for next season. Expect it soon.
Three Stars of the game were the Bulldogs graduating 20 year olds.
Attendance in Blackfalds was 710
Bulldogs next game is sometime in September I am assuming.
Ben Rakowski played in his first BCHL game last night. He is signed for the 2024-25 season. He hails from Needham, Massachusetts (just outside of Boston).
Who ever wins the 50/50 at the Bulldogs games and keeps winning them on the 50 dollar tickets, I hope they donate that money. Really if you can afford to blast 50 bucks on the 50/50 at a game you don’t deserve or need the cash. Probably the same drunk guy spilling his 10 dollar drinks all over the place too. And yeah I’m just bitter as I didn’t win🤣.
Okotoks tied their semi final series up against the Brooks Bandits 2-2.
