Bulldogs hadn’t reported on this on their twitter or anything yet, they did however mention him a happy birthday but never mentioned the fact he got traded. There is probably more to the trade than meets the eye. This sucks MacIntosh was great here. In return the Bulldogs will receive the rights to Surrey Eagles Rylan Bonkowski. Bonkowski is a 2006 born defemceman from Richmond, BC who is committed to Minnesota State. He had 4 goals and 22 points in 52 games with the Eagles last season. Chilliwack is where former Bulldog Connor Dick bailed to last season while the Bulldogs were still in the AJHL.
In a recent development, the Chilliwack Chiefs are thrilled to announce the acquisition of seasoned forward Dakota MacIntosh from the Blackfalds Bulldogs, as part of a three-team trade. The Langley Rivermen will receive the rights to forward Mason Kesselring from the Chiefs, while the Blackfalds Bulldogs will secure the rights to defenseman Rylan Bonkowski.
Dakota MacIntosh expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Chiefs, stating, “It’s an exciting time for me to be a part of such a prestigious organization as Chilliwack and continue playing in a league as honorable and special as the BCHL. I’ve heard nothing but great things about what Chilliwack has built over the years, and I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of a championship-caliber team.”
Brian Maloney, the Chiefs’ GM and Head Coach, commented on the acquisition, “Our group gained a lot of experience last year, and the exciting news is that a good chunk of our roster will be returning in September. With that, we felt that we could still add to our group to help offensively, and Dakota has proven himself at the junior level that he can certainly do that.”
MacIntosh’s impressive 2023/24 season saw him tally up 69 points in 66 games. Maloney praised his performance, “He played a big part in Alberni Valley’s playoff run to the finals in the 22/23 season and then backed it up with a super solid year in Alberta last season. After conversations with him, he is motivated to do whatever is best for our team to help us win the Fred Page Cup.”
Dakota played with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs during the 2022/23 season, finishing with 17 goals and 39 points in 31 games. He expressed his gratitude and eagerness to join the Chiefs organization, saying, “At the end of the day, my dream is to play hockey at a professional level, and I believe Coach Maloney and his amazing staff in Chilliwack will help me reach my childhood dream. I’m excited to bring my knowledge, maturity, and leadership to the Chiefs organization. I can’t wait to get started in Chilliwack with the hopes of bringing home the Fred Page Cup this season. I want to thank Coach Maloney and the whole organization for this opportunity and can’t wait to get started in the fall!”
*In other Bulldogs news forward Josh Sale signed with the Humboldt Broncos of the SJHL. I sort of don’t blame him. I liked watching Sale and thought he should of played more. I think this will work out better for him. Humboldt is a great organization.
