Kasper Pikkarainen was selected in the third round 85th overall to the New Jersey Devils in the 2024 NHL draft. The 2006-born forward is listed at 6’3 and 197 pounds. In 2023-24 with TPS Turko U20, Pikkarainen collected 28 points in 34 games. He has played for Finland at the World U17 Hockey Challenge and World U18 Hockey Championships. The Rebels did not use their second pick which I am assuming is reserved for Samuel Drancak. This is a good pick more than nice to see.

Pikkarainen’s father IIika was drafted in the 7th round of the NHL entry draft ironically enough to the New Jersey Devils, obviously much lower than his son. He did play in 31 games with the Devils in 2009/10 getting 4 points one which was a goal.

Calgary Flames first round selection (28th overall) Matvei Gridin was selected first overall by the Val d’Or Foreurs of the QMJHL, He played last season with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL and is committed to Michigan University next season.
