The Bulldogs have acquired 2005-born and Calgary native forward Thomas Matte and Future Considerations from the Okotoks Oilers in exchange for Otto Hanson. Hanson spent the last 2 seasons in Blackfalds with the Bulldogs. He even played a game in the Bulldogs inaugural season as a 15 year old call up. Hanson had 31 points in 104 games with the Bulldogs. As of today has played the 6 most games with the Bulldogs in their history. Also has been the only 16 year old the Bulldogs have had playing full time. Hanson is a Western Michigan commit and still has 3 more seasons of junior eligibility.
Matte is listed on Elite Prospects at 6’5 209lbs. This is what the Oilers website said about Matte in the trade
Matte, 19, is a 6’5″ left wing who skated in 33 games with the Oilers last season, collecting five goals and nine points. The former U18 AAA Calgary Flames forward also appeared in all 10 playoff contests with the Oilers this year, collecting an assist in Game 6 of the second round against Brooks.
Matheson Mason was also traded earlier this month to the Spruce Grove Saints for future considerations. Mason has acquired last season from the Coquitlam Express in February in the Brandes trade. The Toronto native and Lake Superior State University commit had eight assists in thirteen regular season games and a goal and two assists in four playoff games.
The Bulldogs play Hanson and the Okotoks Oilers in an exhibition game on Tuesday September 10th in Blackfalds.
