The Red Deer Rebels lost to the Lethbridge Hurricanes 2-1 in Overtime in their season opener. Despite outshooting the Hurricanes. Lethbridge starts the season 2-0-0-0 while Red Deer starts the season 0-0-1-0. These two Eastern Conference teams will meet seven more times in the 2024-25 regular season.

Matteo Fabrizi makes it a 1-0 Rebels game at 2:35 of the first period. The assists on the goal went to Carson Birnie and Samuel Drancak

Shots on goal in the first period were 7-4 for the Rebels

Hayden Pakkala scored for the Hurricanes at 17:59 of the second period. The assist on the goal went to Logan McCutcheon.

Shots on goal in the second period were 14-3 for the Rebels

Shots on goal in the third period were 10-4 for the Rebels.

Logan Wormald scored the winner in Overtime at 2:51 helping the Hurricanes get a win where they certainly didn’t deserve one. Assist on the goal went to Tristen Doyle.

Shots in Overtime were 3-0 for the Hurricanes. The Rebels however outshot the Hurricanes 31-14 in the game.

For the Hurricanes Koen Cleaver made 30 saves on the 31 shots that he faced for the win. For the Rebels Rhett Stoesser made 12 saves on the 14 shots that he faced.

Rebels went 0-for-3 on power plays while Lethbridge was 0-for-4.
