Penticton’s visit to Blackfalds marks the first time a British Columbia based team has played a game against the Bulldogs in Blackfalds. They look with their jerseys like a mini version of the Toronto Maple Leafs. I thought the team had a better looking logo when they were called the Panthers back in the 90’s. Penticton has been a junior A powerhouse for years. In reality it makes a lot of sense really. If you could play anywhere in Canada why not Penticton? Good weather, travel isn’t bad, lots of good looking women. It is virtually the complete opposite of a city compared to Brooks. Penticton you really can not question why the kids would want to play there, you do however have to wonder about Brooks. I mean that city? No kid should want to play hockey that bad. To each their own though, but it sort of does make you wonder.

Although the Bulldogs played a way better game than they did in both outings last weekend. If it wasn’t for the play of Waylon Esche the score would of been 9-1. The Vees are like Brooks, they don’t make mistakes. Plus they are one of the most discipline teams I have ever seen. They don’t take penalties or make mistakes.

Jackson Potulny from Maple Grove, Minnesota scores for the Vees at 13:41 of the first period to give the Vees a 1-0 lead. Assist on the goal went to Northeastern University commit Luke Posthumus.

Shots in the first period of play were 12-5 for the Vees

Newly named Captain and Mercyhurst commit Alexander Dimitriadis ties the game up at 6:14 of the second frame when he intercepts the puck and puts it upstairs. Unassisted.

Michigan State commit Max Heise who had a brief stint with the Okotoks Oilers in 22-23 made it a 2-1 game for the Vees on a garbage fluke redirect at 10:18 of the second. The assist on the goal went to Montreal, Quebec native and former Smith Falls Bear Julien Wasmer.

Former Surrey Eagle Ryden Evers gets his second goal of the season from the slot to make it a 3-1 game for the Vees when he snuck in dribbler past Esche at 13:29 of the second period. The assists on the goal went to Brampton, Ontario native Anselmo Rego and Norfolk, Massachusetts native Matthew Cataldo. Anselmo Rego on the Vees was one of the more entertaining Vees to watch in the game. Guy is a tank.

Shots in second period were 13-12 for the Vees

Shots in third period of play were 12-7 for the Vees. The Vees outshot the Bulldogs 37-24 in the game.

20 year old Winnipeg native Andrew Ness made 23 saves on the 24 shots that he faced for the win for the Vees. For the Bulldogs Waylon Esche made 33 saves on the 37 shots the he faced for the Bulldogs.

Three Stars of the game were 1) Max Heise 2) Alexander Dimitriadis 3) Anselmo Rego. I along with everyone who paid attention to the game disagree and think that all 3 slots should of been given to Esche.

Attendance in Blackfalds 838

Bulldogs next game is October 4th in Cranbrook against the Bucks then October 5th against the Bandits in Brooks. The Bulldogs do not play in Blackfalds again until October 18th against the Sherwood Park Crusaders.
