The Red Deer Rebels defeated the Medicine Hat Tigers 4-3 on Saturday night for their second straight victory. This against a team which many say should be the power house of the entire CHL.

Jonas Woo got the Tigers on the board first at 5:26 of the first period with the assist going to Bryce Pickford. Nice effort by Woo on the goal.

Captain Ollie Josephson tied the game up just 23 seconds later with a wrister from the slot at 5:49 of the first period. The goal was unassisted.

Cohen Poulin scores his first WHL goal at 14:44 of the first period to give the Rebels a 2-1 lead when Jeremiah Roberts hit him with a pass in the slot. Poulin is a 2007 born from Abbotsford, BC. The 17-year-old was listed by the Rebels last season and had a big season with the U18 AAA Fraser Valley Thunderbirds of the BC Elite Hockey League.

Shots in the first period were 12-7 for the Tigers

Jace Weir makes it a 3-1 game at 9:26 of the second period on the Power Play. Almost a spitting image of a goal Mayo scored last night. The assists on the goal went to Samuel Drancak and Matthew Gard. The goal spelled the end of the night for McCallum as he was replaced by Jordan Switzer after allowing three goals on 11 shots. I sort of felt bad for McCallum as that puck was almost had by his pad.

Shots in the second period were 15-9 for the Tigers

Andrew Basha scores his first goal of the season for the Tigers at 3:38 of the third period to make it a 3-2 game. With the assists on the goal going to Gavin McKenna and Shane Smith on the Power Play. Andrew Basha capped off a three-way passing play for a power play tally.

Talon Brigley makes it a 4-1 game with a back hand snipe at 7:10 of the third period. The helpers on the goal went to Ollie Josephson and Derek Thurston.

Hayden Harsanyi gets the Tigers within one at 14:16 of the third period with a backhander. The assists on the goal went to Salt Lake City, Utah native Schaeffer Gordon-Carroll and Shane Smith.

Shots on goal in the third period were 13-6 for the Tigers. The Tigers outshot the Rebels 40-22 in the game.

Rhett Stoesser made 37 saves on the 40 shots that he faced for the win for the Rebels. For the Tigers Ethan McCallum made 8 saves on the 11 shots that he faced before being replaced by Jordan Switzer who made 10 saves on the 11 shots that he faced.
