The Blackfalds Bulldogs start of their lower Mainland road trip in Surrey for their Country Night to play the Scott Gomez coached Eagles. I didn’t realize before that their rink was basically in White Rock though.
The Eagles are last years BCHL Champions depending on how you view that series they had against Brooks where they appeared not to even show up. The Bulldogs although playing alot better the last few games just keep coming up short every single time. They lost a close one 3-2.
In a scoreless first period the Bulldogs outshot the Eagles 12-10.
14 seconds into the second period the Eagles scored. Oakland, New Jersey native Dean Toskos scored his 3rd goal of the season to make it a 1-0 game for the Eagles. The assist went to Abbotsford native Jeremy Friesen
Shots on goal in the second period were 16-15 for the Bulldogs. I also doubt that Surrey goalie Jaiden Sharma has had to move at all to make any of those saves. It looks like they were intentionally shooting the puck right at him. Some cases it looked like they even let him set up before taking a shot. The Bulldogs made him work at least in the third but in the first 2 periods it looked like they were purposely not scoring on him.
After a bad mess up in the corner which resulted in a giveaway at the Eagles make it 2-0. In this situation a Bulldog player went into the corner and instead of clearing the puck threw it right out in front of his own net. Brandon Gill of the Surrey Eagles was right there and the Scarborough, Ontario native scored at 1:22 of the third period. The assists on the goal went to Si-Hwan Kim and Joven Brar. Kim is one of 2 players on the Surrey Eagles from South Korea.
Jamie Darlison gets the Bulldogs on the board on the Power Play just moments later at 1:53 of the third period with the assist going to Jayden Joly.
Aidan Castle ties the game up with his second goal of the season at 9:16 of the third period with the assists on the goal going to Alexander Dimitriadis and Shane Purves.
At 3:39 of the third period the Eagles took back the lead when Brandon Gill scored his second goal of the game with the assist going to the 2023-24 Korean Collegiate League Leading Scorer Si-Hawn Kim.
Shots on goal in the third period were 14-6 for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs outshot the Eagles 42-31 in the game.
For the Eagles Jaiden Sharma stopped 40 of the 42 shots that he faced for the win for the Eagles. For the Bulldogs Waylon Esche made 28 saves on the 31 shots that he faced for the Bulldogs
Three Stars of the game were 1) Brandon Gill 2) Jaiden Sharma 3) Aidan Castle
Attendance in South Surrey aka White Rock was 1100
Bulldogs next game is Saturday October 11th in Chilliwack against the Chiefs.
I watched some of the Oilers and Spruce Kings game on Flo Tv before the Bulldogs game started. I don’t know who does the camera work or video editing but wow. When the Oilers were on the Power Play they plastered all over the screen they were on the Power Play and it covered the WHOLE SCREEN then they played the game behind it so you couldn’t see it and just hear it. Then the camera is tilted for a good chunk of the game like the camera is too heavy for the person holding it, or they are wasted drunk. Then you keep seeing the string for the lens cap in the camera. This is nothing against Okotoks as their games are all usually done very well. Something is up there tonight. Then it is sending up messages for us at home to “Please Keep Your Children Seated At All Times” right on the screen. Then later on the camera starts shaking, buddy may need another drink🤔🤣
