The Bulldogs lost to the Spruce Grove Saints 4-3 with only 6 seconds remaining in the game. They played horrible. The team is full of skilled guys that resemble a beer league team with their style of play. The Power Plays which the Bulldogs were gifted with much more than they almost deserved were a waste. If it wasn’t for goalie Waylon Esche they would almost be looking at a double digit thrashing. (And that isn’t exaggerating).
Keifer Miller opened up the scoring for the Saints just a blink of 25 seconds into the game on a pathetic giveaway by the Bulldogs. Adam Lang got the lone assist on the goal.
Josh Polak scored his 6th goal of the season to make it a 2-0 Saints game when the Bulldogs couldn’t control the puck and just got it stripped of their stick. The goal was unassisted by one of their players. But just like the last goal it was 100% preventable. So thats 2 goals just handed to them.
Aidan Castle grabs a Matthew Ronn rebound at 7:42 of the first period to get the Bulldogs on the board. That marks Castle’s 5th goal of the season.
Shots on goal in the first period were 14-11 for the Saints
Josh Polak received a beautiful pass from a Bulldogs player. It was an actual pass right on the tape of his stick when he was in the slot. It looked like the Bulldog player seen Polak and said “Hey you want another goal, its on me” He did everything for that goal I don’t know why he didn’t join the celebration huddle with the Saints afterwards.
Shots on goal in the second period were 14-7 for the Saints
Jared Langdon scored his first goal of the season at 2:52 of the third period with the assists going to Matthew Ronn and James Johnson.
Jayden Joly scored his second goal of the season at 6:32 of the third period with the assists on the goal going to Jared Langdon and James Johnson
Saints pulled a bone head move with a clear intent to injure and lots of credit has to be given to Jamie Darlison for keeping his cool and not retaliating. This play will get reviewed by the league and this kid is probably going to miss about a month. It looked clear intent to injure and nothing else.
The Bulldogs got the game pretty much given to them when they got a 5 minute Power Play which they managed maybe 2 or 3 shots and thats being generous. It was very painful to watch.
Keiffer Miller scored the winner for the Saints with 6.9 seconds remaining in the game with the assists on the goal going to Colin Doherty and Josh Polak
Shots on goal in the third period were 11-10 for the Saints with the Saints outshooting the Bulldogs 39-28 in the game.
Former Cornwall Colt goalie Xander Miceli made 25 saves on the 28 shots that he faced for the win for the Saints. For the Bulldogs Waylon Esche made 35 saves on the 39 shots that he faced.
Three Stars of the game were 1) Jared Langdon 2) Josh Polak Keifer Miller
