Salmon Arm has a nice looking rink and looks like a great atmosphere to play. The first period of the game looked alot like last nights game against Penticton. Horrible. Once it hit the second though the Bulldogs started playing better. Dylan Adams lots of big saves at the start. But the Bulldogs came up short losing their 2nd game on their weekend road trip.
Silverbacks opened up the scoring on the Power Play when Roenick Jodoin scored his 5th goal of the season at 8:53 of the first period with the assists going to 20 year old Edina, Minnesota native Tommy Cronin and captain Maddux Martin. That was a nice goal by the Silverbacks there was literally nothing that Adams could of possibly done to stop that goal.
Shots on goal in the first period were 16-5 for the Silverbacks. At this point in the game it looked like a repeat of last night. Again the goalie keeping the Bulldogs in the game.
Salmon Arm makes it 2-0 when Warman, Saskatchewan native Liam Bursaw took advantage of a tired Bulldogs dman and cleared the zone scoring his 6th goal of the season at 12:40 of the second period. The assist on the goal went to former Chippewa Steel forward Aidan Willis.
Now 3-0 Silverbacks at 15:10 of the second period when the Bulldogs goofed up at the blue line and allowed Liam Bursaw to go down the ice with one of his buddies. He just used his boy as a decoy and scored his second goal of the game unassisted. Unless you give the assist to the Bulldogs. If they ever credited the other teams for assists on screwed up goals the Bulldogs would probably have the leagues leading scorer.
Shots on goal in the second period were 14-12 for the Bulldogs. Minus those 2 totally preventable goals the Bulldogs played a good period of hockey.
At 13:58 of the third period the Bulldogs got a 4 minute power play. On that Power Play towards the end Joey Melo scored his 6th goal of the season at 9:00 with the assists going to James Johnson and Aidan Castle.
Grady Hope scores at 5:19 of the third period to get his first career BCHL goal and it makes the score 3-2 and puts the Bulldogs within one. The assists on the goal went to Jayden Joly and Alexander Dimitriadis.
Bulldogs pushed at the end and for once pulled their goalie at a reasonable time. Luke Dahlen almost potted one in the dying seconds but it wasn’t enough. At least 2 periods of the game were watchable.
Shots on goal in the third period were 7-6 for the Silverbacks. The Silverbacks outshot the Bulldogs 35-25 in the game.
University of New Hampshire commit Ryan Grout made 23 saves on the 25 shots that he faced for the win for Salmon Arm. For the Bulldogs Dylan Adams made 32 saves on the 35 shots that he faced.
Three Stars of the game were 1) Liam Bursaw 2) Roenick Jodoin 3) Grady Hope
Attendance in Salmon Arm was 1,292
Bulldogs next game is Friday November 8th against the West Kelowna Warriors in Blackfalds.
