The Red Deer Rebels were unable to capitalize on their first-ever visit to Wenatchee, as the Wild dealt them a 5-2 defeat on Friday night. Despite a valiant effort, the Rebels found themselves outmatched by the home team’s early scoring and relentless pressure. Two goals in the first period set the tone for the Wild’s performance, with another pair of scores in the second period putting the game out of reach. .

20 year old Nagano, Japan native Kenta Isoga got the Wild on the board at 10:56 of the first period while on the Power Play to make it a 1-0 Wild game. The assists on the goal went to Vernon, BC native Deagan McMillan and Winnipeg native Evan Friesen.

Kelowna native Maddix McCagherty makes it 2-0 for the Wild at 14:52 of the first period. The assists on the goal went to Luka Shcherbyna and goalie Daniel Hauser. Shcherybyna who I assumed was some Euro kid by looking at not only his last name that I have no idea how to pronounce but his common Euro first name Luka also. He is from Vancouver. One can assume he moved here at a young age.

Shots in the first period were 12-11 for the Rebels

Beckett Hamilton scored for the Rebels at 4:00 of the second period with the assists on the goal going to Derek Thurston and Jake Missura

Eastyn Mannix just dumps it on net and makes it 3-1 for the Wild at 5:16 of the second period. The assists on the goal went to Redondo Beach, California native Tyler Russel and Kenta Isoga. Mannix split last season between the Edmonton Oil Kings and the Whitecourt Wolverines of the AJHL.

20 year old Evan Friesen makes it 4-1 when he scores for the Wild shorthanded at 18:05 of the second period. The assist on the goal went to Kelowna native Seth Tansem who spent time between the Prince Albert Raiders and the Brandon Wheat Kings last season.

Shots on goal in the second period were 16-14 for the Rebels

Carson Birnie scored for the Rebels at 3:27 of the third period. The assists on the goal went to Ollie Josephson and Jeremiah Roberts.

Caelan Joudrey scores into the empty net for the Wild to finalize it and make it a 5-2 game at 18:50 of the third period. The helpers on the goal went to former Rebel Zane Saab and former Medicine Hat Tiger Reid Andresen.

Shots on goal in the third period were 14-7 for the Wild. The Wild outshot the Rebels in the game 39-35.

20 year old Chestermere, Alberta native Daniel Hauser made 33 saves on the 35 shots that he faced for the win for the Wild. For the Rebels Chase Wutzke made 34 of 38 saves.
