The Red Deer Rebels, playing their fourth game in five nights on their U.S. road trip blew a 2-0 lead and lost to the Seattle Thunderbirds in a shootout3-2. Apparently the Red Deer Rebels did not come out for the warm up until 7 minutes were remining in the warmup. It is not said why and the announcer wasn’t certain but he said they missed over half the warm up. He said even the Thunderbirds were a minute late coming out. Maybe we’ll hear more before the game is done.
Former Rebel Arjun Bawa now plays for the Seattle Thunderbirds after being traded their last may. He played for the Rebels in 2022-23. In 34 games with the Rebels he got 5 points before being shipped to the Prince George Cougars for Ryker Singer.
At the start of the game the Rebels had the worst Power Play in the whole WHL at only 14.3%
Beckett Hamilton makes it 1-0 for the Rebels when he scored his 4th goal of the season at 16:37 of the first period. The assists on the goal went to Evan Smith and Steven Steranka.

Fabrizi dropped the gloves with Antonio Martorana in the second period. Martorana seems a little bigger than the 5’8 he is listed at on elite prospects. Considering Fabrizi is 6’5 and he had issues smashing down on his head.
Ollie Josephson makes it 2-0 at 3:17 of the second period with the assist going to Hunter Mayo.
Shots on goal in the second period were tied at 8 each.
Team Canada Hlinka Gretzky gold medalist Braeden Cootes scored his 7th goal of the season to get the Thunderbirds on the board at 9:22 of the third period. The assists on the goal went to a couple of Edmonton natives in Hyde Davidson and Antonio Martorana.
Braeden Cootes tied the game up with his second goal of the game for the Thunderbirds shorthanded at 11:55 of the third period unassisted.
Shots on goal in the third period were 9-4 for the Thunderbirds.
Shots on goal in overtime were 2-1 for the Thunderbirds. The Shots for the whole game were tied at 31 each.

Saskatoon native Grayson Malinoski made 29 saves on the 31 shots that he faced for the win for the Thunderbirds. Grayson is the younger brother of Hudson who is a Toronto Maple Leafs prospect who played with the Brooks Bandits of the AJHL and now plays at Providence College. Grayson Malinoski is the Thunderbirds backup to Scott Ratzlaff who will probably be returning as a member of Canada’s World Junior Team this Christmas. For the Rebels Chase Wutzke made 28 saves on the 30 shots that he faced.
