A thrilling third-period offensive explosion propelled the Rebels to a nail-biting 5-4 shootout win against the conference-leading Blades on Wednesday night in Saskatoon.

In the decisive shootout, Jaxon Fuder and Matthew Gard found the back of the net, while Chase Wutzke turned away four out of the Blades’ five attempts.

This game added yet another vibrant chapter to the ongoing saga between the Rebels and the Blades, with the Rebels breaking the Blades’ (17-6-1-2) three-game winning run. With this victory, the Rebels have now secured consecutive road wins, stretching their winning streak to four games and enhancing their record to 14-10-1-2 this season.

16 seconds into the game Brandon Lisowsky scored to make it a 1-0 game. The assists on the goal went to Ben Saunderson and Tyler Parr.

2-0 Blades when former Moose Jaw Warrior and team leading scorer Ben Riche scored at 12:36 of the first period. The assists on the goal went to 2022 Toronto Maple Leafs 7th rounder Brandon Lisowsky and Isaac Poll.

Beckett Hamilton gets the Rebels on the scoreboard at 15:28 of the first period. The assists on the goal went to Trae Wilke and Evan Smith.

Shots on goal in the first period were 10-8 for the Blades.

3-1 Blades when Winnipeg native Lukas Hansen scores at 12:58 of the second period with the assists going to Brayden Klimpke

Shots on goal in the second period were 10-9 for the Rebels.

Kalan Lind scores for the Rebels on the Power Play at 3:13 of the third period. The assists on the goal went to Jaxon Fuder and Hunter Mayo. That marks Lind’s first goal this season. Albeit he has missed most due to injury and suspension.

Hunter Mayo made it a 3-1 game getting his 10th of the season at 6:38 of the third period with the assist on the goal going to Carson Birnie.Hunter Mayo snuck down to retrieve a loose puck at the top of the circle and fired a quick snapshot top-shelf and just like that, the game was tied.

Derek Thurston makes it a 4-3 game at 14:12 of the third period Matthew Gard.

Then on the power play with a pulled goalie to make it 6 on 4 the Blades tied the game up with 1:19 when Tyler Parr got his 11th of the year with the assists going to Ben Riche and 20 year old Abbotsford native Grayden Siepmann.

Wutzke stoned Tanner Molendyk on a breakaway, Then McCallumm stoned Mayo at the other end. Shots on goal in the overtime were 5-1 for the Blades. The Blades were on the Power Play for the last 2 minutes of OT and got 4 out of their 5 shots there. The Blades outshot the Rebels the whole game 33-27.

For the Rebels Chase Wutzke made 29 saves on the 33 shots that he faced. For the Blades former Medicine Hat Tiger Ethan McCallum made 23 saves on the 27 shots that he faced.
