The Red Deer Rebels suffered a 4-1 defeat against the Lethbridge Hurricanes on the road this Friday night. Despite playing with a roster that included a player debuting as a center and another playing center for the first time this season, the Rebels managed to keep the score close until Lethbridge scored three times in the third period. This loss marked Red Deer’s third consecutive defeat, dropping their record to 14-13-1-2, while Lethbridge celebrated their fourth win in a row, improving to 16-10-1-1.
Brayden Edwards opens up the scoring for the Hurricanes shorthanded at 1:56 of the first period with the assists on the goal going to Shane Smith and goaltender Jackson Unger.

Trae Wilke made it a 1-1 game at 7:19 of the first period with the assist on the goal going to newcomer Cole Peardon.
Shots on goal in the first period were 11-9 for the Hurricanes
After a scoreless second period shots on goal in the second period were 6-3 for the Hurricanes
Former Kelowna Rocket Trae Johnson gave the Hurricanes the lead at 9:32 of the third period with the assists on the goal going to Kash Andresen and 16 year old Okotoks native Grady Pichette. That is Pichette’s first WHL point (This is his fourth game).
Hayden Pakkala made it 3-1 for the Hurricanes at 11:36 of the third period on the Power Play. The assists on the goal went to Shane Smith and Tristen Doyle.
Logan Wormald makes it 4-1 into the empty net at 18:16 of the third period with the helper on the goal going to Logan McCutcheon.
Shots on goal in the third period were 12-4 for the Hurricanes with the Hurricanes outshooting the Rebels 29-16 in the game.
Former Moose Jaw Warrior Jackson Unger stopped 15 of the 16 shots that he faced for the win for the Hurricanes. For the Rebels Chase Wutzke made 25 saves on the 28 shots that he faced.

The Rebels have acquired 18-year-old forward Cole Peardon from Prince Albert in exchange for 18-year-old forward Evan Smith.
Peardon, from Outlook, SK, was selected 13th overall by Prince Albert in round one of the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft. He has three points (one goal, two assists) in 16 games with the Raiders this season, and 27 points in 126 games for his career.
Smith was selected by the Rebels in round five, 95th overall at the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft and has one goal and four assists in 28 games this season. <SNIP> LINK
