Once again, playing on their home ice seemed to boost the Red Deer Rebels’ performance.
An enthusiastic audience of more than 4,700 fans at the Peavey Mart Centrium rallied behind the Rebels as they secured a 4-2 victory against the visiting Kamloops Blazers during Toque and Teddy Night.
With this win, the Rebels now boast an impressive home record of 10-2-1-0 for the season.
Shots on goal in the first period were 13-11 for the Blazers.
Trae Wilke scored the Teddy Bear Toss goal at 2:59 of the second period with the assist going to Kalan Lind.
Cohen Poulin made it a 2-0 game at 6:16 of the second period with the assists on the goal going to Nolan Schmidt and Cole Peardon.
Langley, BC native Ryan Michael got the Blazers on the board at 8:22 of the second period with the assists going to Tommy Lafreniere and Emmitt Finnie.
Shots on goal in the second period were 13-7 for the Blazers.
Talon Brigley made it 3-1 just 10 seconds into the third period with the assists on the goal going to Jaxon Fuder and Jace Weir.
Matthew Gard makes it a 4-1 game on the Power Play at 4:56 of the third period with the assists on the goal going to Jace Weir and Chase Wutzke. Draft-eligible Matthew Gard has four goals in his last three games on home ice.
Emmitt Finnie made it a 4-2 game for the Blazers at 19:17 of the third period with the assist on the goal going to Calgary native Nathan Behm.
Shots on goal in the third period were 9-8 for the Blazers. The Blazers outshot the Rebels 35-26 in the game.
Chase Wutzke made 33 saves on the 35 shots that he faced for the win for the Rebels. For the Blazers 17 year old Saskatoon native Logan Edmonstone made 22 saves on the 26 shots that he faced.
