The Rebels have made a significant trade, bringing in some promising young talent. They’ve landed 18-year-old defenseman Doogan Pederson, 15-year-old forward Miller Robson, and a third-round pick in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft (originally Swift Current’s) in exchange for 19-year-old defenseman Matteo Fabrizi.

Pederson’s journey started with Prince Albert, where he signed in October 2022 after being listed the year before. The Langley, BC product has put up 10 points (2 goals, 8 assists) this season in 32 games, and boasts 16 points (4 goals, 12 assists) across his 76-game WHL career with the Raiders. It’s worth noting that Doogan comes from a hockey family; his father, Denis Pederson, played for Prince Albert from 1991-95 and went on to a long professional career, including 435 NHL games with New Jersey, Vancouver, Phoenix, and Nashville.

Robson, a Saskatoon native, has been tearing it up with the Saskatoon Riverkings U18 AA, notching 14 points in just 15 games. He’s also seen action in four games this season with the Saskatoon Blazers U18 AAA team.

On the other side of the trade, Fabrizi, originally a second-round pick (31st overall) for the Rebels in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft, has played 197 regular season games for the club, recording 36 points (11 goals, 26 assists). The St. Albert, Alberta native also added two assists in 23 playoff appearances. This season, he’s contributed 8 points (2 goals, 6 assists) in 28 games.
