The Bulldogs defeated the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on Saturday night by a score of 5-3 to get their second win a row. The first time they have done so all season (2 wins in a row). The Silverbacks also acquired ultimate Junior Hockey Journeyman and former Blackfalds Bulldog Legend Dakota MacIntosh. I would also like to point out that although this is MacIntosh’s second team this season, the BCHL trade deadline is still not occur for awhile.

After Kirll Kapustin stoned Dakota MacIntosh on a breakaway he was joined by a couple of other Silverbacks in the offensive zone and they made it a 1-0 game. Macintosh got his first goal as a Silverback and his 14th of the season. The assists on the goal went to Warman, Saskatchewan native Carson Olsen and University of Denver commit Ben MacBeath at 8:52 of the first period.

Austin Borrgaard scored his 4th goal of the season to tie the game up at 1 at 12:05 of the first period when he fired a shot from the slot. The assists on the goal went to Joey Melo and Noah Mertz.

Shots on goal in the first period were 15-6 for the Silverbacks

Dakota MacIntosh gave the Silverbacks a 2-1 lead when he drapped it into the open net at 3:04 of the second period with the assists on the goal going to Cole Cooksey and Maddux Martin.

Buffalo, New York native and former Cedar Rapids Roughrider Donovan Hamilton scored his first goal of the season on a goal that looked like Kapustin gave it to him as a gift. When your that good sometimes you have to let in the odd goal to make the other team realize that you are infact human. Aaron Van Wie and Sawyer Prokopetz were awarded late Christmas gift assists on the goal at 5:04 of the second period.

Thomas Neu scores for the Bulldogs to cut the Silverbacks lead by 1 at 5:27 of the second period when Luke Norcross spotted him out front of the net.

Noah Mertz tied the game up for the Bulldogs with a point shot at 9:46 of the second period with the assists on the goal going to Jared Langdon.

Luke Dahlen gave the Bulldogs the go ahead goal at 15:17 of the second period with the assists on the goal going to Thomas Neu and Matthew Ronn.

Shots on goal in the second period were 17-8 for the Silverbacks

Austin Boorgard got his second goal of the night when he scored on the empty net with 57 seconds left in the game to seal the deal and make it a 5-3 game. Luke Dahlen got the assist on it.

Shots on goal in the third period were 15-3 for the Silverbacks with the Silverbacks outshooting the Bulldogs 47-17 in the game.

Kirill Kapustin made 44 saves on the 47 shots that he faced for the win for the Bulldogs. For the Silverbacks Daniel Diracolo made 7 saves on the 10 shots that he faced. He was replaced by Andrew Ballantyne after the Mertz goal. Ballantyne stopped 5 of the 6 shots that he faced.
