Well they got a point. That doesn’t really help them if they are trying to win the Maddox Shultz sweepstake now does it. I am assuming Red Deer still has their first pick in 2025 I haven’t checked. No point in squeaking into the playoffs to get swept. May as well rebuild as selfish as a fan statement as that is.

Ty Coupland scores his first goal as a Rebel at 2:01 of the first period from Matthew Gard and Doogan Pederson.Just over two minutes into the first period, Ty Coupland opened the scoring for the Rebels. Matthew Gard carried the puck into the offensive zone before finding Coupland with a pass. Coupland then fired a shot past Saskatoon netminder Evan Gardner at the 2:01 mark.

20 year old Abbotsford, BC native Grayden Siepmann ties the game up for the Blades on the Power Play at 4:01 of the first period with the assist on the goal going to Rowan Calvert.

Brett Calhoon scores his first goal as a Red Deer Rebel at 16:25 of the first period while the Rebels were short handed unassisted.With the Rebels shorthanded on a five-minute penalty kill, another newcomer stole the show as Brett Calhoon knocked a Blades pass out of midair and snapped it passed Gardner. After a lengthy video review, Calhoon was confirmed with his first goal with the Rebels in his second game with the team.

Shots on goal in the first period were 10-8 for the Blades.

16 year old Calgary native Cooper Williams cuts the Blades defecit to 1 when he scores his 11th goal of the season at 4:07 of the third period. The assists on the goal went to 17 year old German Import David Lewandowski and Brayden Klimpke.

Cooper Williams got his second goal of the game to tie it up for the Blades at 6:30 of the third period while on the Power Play. The assists on the goal went to Calgary Flames draft pick and former Prince George Cougar Hunter Laing and David Lewandowski.

Shots in the third period were 12-5 for the Blades.

Former Medicine Hat Tiger Hayden Harsanyi scored the winner for the Blades just 56 seconds into overtime with the assist going to Cooper Williams.

Shots on goal in the overtime frame were 1 each. The Blades outshot the Rebels 34-20 in the game.

For the Blades Columbus Blue Jackets 2024 second rounder Evan Gardner stopped 17 of the 20 shots that he faced for the win for the Blades. For the Rebels Chase Wutzke made 30 saves on the 34 shots that he faced.
