The Red Deer Rebels snapped their 13 game winless streak to defeat the last place Moose Jaw Warriors 5-1. Also this helps the Warriors move closer to achieving the first overall pick in the 2025 WHL Bantam draft which will haunt them in their division when the pick goes to Edmonton🤔🙄Either way its nice to get a win finally again.

Jhett Larson opened up the scoring for the Rebels in his first game back from a 20 game broken arm injury, at 11:08 of the first period. The assists on the goal went to Ty Coupland and Doogan Pederson.–Red Deer picked up the game’s first goal eleven minutes into the opening period when a shot from the blue line went off a Rebel between the circles and then bounced to a wide-open Jhett Larson on the left side of the Moose Jaw net.

Matthew Gard got his 10th goal of the season on the Power Play at 16:05 of the first period. The helpers on the goal went to Jhett Larson and Nishaan Parmar.–A double minor penalty for high-sticking against Moose Jaw gave Red Deer plenty of time on the power play, which they effectively used. Matthew Gard scored his tenth goal of the season from close range, capitalizing on a rebound in the crease after Larson’s shot was initially stopped by Josh Banini’s excellent save.

Brett Calhoon made it a 3-0 game at 19:58 of the first period with the assists on the goal going to Nishaan Parmar and Keaton Dowhaniuk.–they took a 3-0 lead in the final seconds of the frame when Brett Calhoon converted on a wrap-around.

Derek Thurston makes it a 4-0 game with a cannon shot from the point at 6:38 of the third period. The assists on the goal went to Beckett Hamilton and Luke Vlooswyk.– Derek Thurston ran the lead to 4-0 in the third period with an absolute sizzler from the left point for his fifth goal of the season.

Beckett Hamilton made it a 5-0 game at 11:24 of the third period with the assists on the goal going to Nolan Schmidt and Luke Vlooswyk.–Beckett Hamilton took a pass down low from Nolan Schmidt and sent the puck top shelf past Banini for his 10th goal of the year.
Ethan Seminuk broke Wutzke’s shutout with 10 seconds left in the game while the Warriors were on the Power Play. The assists on the goal went to Aiden Ziprick and Pavel McKenzie.
Shots on goal in the third period were 9 each. The Rebels outshot the Warriors in the game 40-22.
Chase Wutzke made 21 saves on the 22 shots that he faced for the win for the Rebels. For the Warriors Edmonton native Josh Banini made 35 saves on the 40 shots that he faced.

Quentin Bourne is now playing with the Whitecourt Wolverines in the AJHL alongside fellow former Rebel Dwayne Jean Jr. They actually combined for the first goal last night in Whitecourts 4-1 over the Calgary Canucks.
