The Bulldogs fell to the Bandits 3-1 on Saturday night in Brooks.

It was 5 on 3 for Brooks only a few minutes into the game and the Bulldogs killed that off. Then at 12:00 Nathan Taylor got the biggest horse shit call I have seen in a long time. It was a typical “what the hell” call to expect in Brooks usually from the AJHL days that happened more though. Again I get the refs have a tough job but that looked like a made up call to throw a guy in the box for nothing. They scored a garbage rebound goal on that Power Play. They reviewed the goal upstairs and called it no goal which shocked me a bit. I personally wouldn’t of called it but for all those garbage calls its only fair. Really.

Bandits got their fourth PP of the game with 2:30 left in the period and the Bulldogs killed that off also.

Shots on goal in the first period were 14-8 for the Bandits

Brooks made it a 1-0 game when Anchorage, Alaska native Drew Mackie who recently joined the Bandits from the Fargo Force of the USHL got his first goal as a Bandit at 3:43 of the second period with the assists going to Nathan Free and Ethan Beyer. Surprisingly this was an even strength goal. There was not much even strength hockey played Saturday night.

Hussa got a penalty for touching a kid infront of the net. “Touching him that was it“. They are calling everything. And the Bandits scored. Mathis Durfour got a goal added to his stats along with Ethan Beyer and Keith McInnis getting gifted assists to add to their stats. That was a bad call and reminder of the old AJHL days where it wasn’t bad reffing it was obviously paid for bought Brazilian soccer style refereeing.

The Bulldogs went back in the penalty box with a too many men.

The Bulldogs are going back to the box I didn’t see if the Bulldog did anything there is a Bandit laying on the ice though. Who seemed to get up really quickly once he seen a penalty was called. Only a 5 minute major. Why not.

Parker Lalonde scored for Brooks on the Power Play to make it 3-0 at 19:05 with the assists on the goal going to Keith McInnis and Ethan Beyer.

Brooks got a penalty at the end of the period it was a check to the head but apparently theirs only warrants 2 minutes because of ??? Climate Change??? I can’t think of another reason unless the guy pictured here is involved with what is going on out there. It just looked so stupid that the only logical reason is this guy was involved.

Shots on goal in the second period were 15-7 for the Bandits.

Another Power Play for the Bandits for free was given out. Its so painful to watch because it so obviously not a penalty.🙄🙄🙄

Alex Bosland scored on a beautiful shot to make it a 3-1 game at 8:24 of the third period. The assists on the goal went to Nicholas DiPaolo and Liam O’Keeffe. Bosland played 11 games for the Brooks Bandits last season.

The Bulldogs pulled Kapustin at the end and had some chances but came up short. Shots on goal in the third period were 10-6 for the Bulldogs. The Bandits outshot the Bulldogs 35-25 in the game.

Former Medicine Hat Tiger goalie Zach Zahara made 24 of the 25 shots that he faced for the win. For the Bulldogs Kirill Kapustin made 32 saves on the 35 shots that he faced.

Three Stars of the game were 1) Ethan Beyer 2) Zach Zahara 3) Alex Bosland

Attendance in Brooks was 1382

Bulldogs next game is Friday February 14th in Vernon against the Vipers. The Bulldogs next home game is Monday Family Day February 17th against the Brooks Bandits. This one has a strange start time at 4pm.
