During the Brandon Hagel Bobblehead Night celebration, Ty Coupland honored the ex-Rebels standout in style.
Coupland lit up the scoreboard with four goals, marking the first time a Rebels player achieved that feat since Hagel, leading the Rebels to a dominant 10-2 victory against the Kelowna Rockets on Saturday night at the Centrium. Also probably not the return to Red Deer former goalie and fan favorite Rhett Stoesser was not planning on.
Former Swift Current Bronco and Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan native Dawson Gerwing opened up the scoring for the Kelowna Rockets at 7:46 of the first period while on the Power Play. The assists on the goal went to former Lethbridge Hurricane Will Sharpe who was acquired in their Caden Price trade and Levi Benson who is the younger brother of Buffalo Sabre and former Wenatchee Wild star Zach Benson.– Kelowna opened the scoring when Will Sharpe blasted a one-timer that was tipped by Dawson Gerwing past Rebels’ netminder Peyton Shore with 12:14 left in the first period.

Ty Coupland scored his 12th goal of the season at 9:31 of the first period to tie the game up while on the Power Play. The assists on the goal went to Beckett Hamilton and Matthew Gard. –Beckett Hamilton found Coupland stationed on the blue line, where number 22 released a wrister that eluded traffic to beat former Rebels goalie Rhett Stoesser.

Ty Coupland then got his second of the night and 13th goal of the season at 10:59 of the first period to make it a 2-1 game. The assists on that goal went to Beckett Hamilton and Ollie Josephson.– On the next powerplay, Hamilton fed Coupland a cross-ice pass to the bottom of the left circle, where Coupland starred down a wide open net for a 2-1 lead.

Jhett Larson made it a 3-1 game at 17:01 of the first period while on the Power Play. The assists on the goal went to Derek Thurston and Luke Vlooswyk.– The Rebels never looked back as Derek Thurston connected with Jhett Larson on a powerplay to extend the lead with 2:59 to go in the first period.

Ty Coupland completed his hat trick at 4:32 of the second period while on the Power Play. The assists on the goal went to Ollie Josephson and Beckett Hamilton. That made it a 4-1 game. All four of the Rebels goals have been on the Power Play.– Coupland completed his hat trick with another power play snipe from the left circle early in period two.

Kalan Lind who is more than likely in his last month of junior hockey, made it a 5-1 game at 8:22 of the second period. The assists on the goal went to Samuel Drancak and Ty Coupland.– Kalan Lind made it 5-1 when he slid the puck into an near-empty net after a brilliant setup from Samuel Drancak and Coupland.

Talon Brigley made it a 6-1 game at 10:32 of the second period with his 9th goal of the season. The helpers on the goal went to Jhett Larson and Gleb Semenov. This ended the night for former Rebel netminder Rhett Stoesser in net for the Rockets.–Talon Brigley buried a rebound off the end boards to make it a 6-1 game and force Stoesser from the game.

Luke Vlooswyk made it a 7-1 game when he scored his third goal of the season on the Power Play. The assists on the goal went to Derek Thurston and Talon Brigley at 16:29 of the second period.– Luke Vlooswyk was the first to put one by Rockets’ reliever Jake Pilon with a wrist shot from the point on yet another Rebels powerplay.

Ty Coupland scored his 4th goal of the game to make it 8-1 at 6:11 of the third period. The assists on the goal went to Kalan Lind and Jake Missura– Coupland kept the momentum going. Bursting out of the Rebels’ zone, he snagged a pass from Lind and charged toward the net, slipping the puck through Pilon’s legs to notch his fourth goal and fifth point of the evening, just over six minutes into the third period.

Samuel Drancak makes it a 9-1 game at 9:49 of the third period. The assists on the goal went to Luke Vlooswyk and Keaton Dowhaniuk.– Drancak lit the lamp with a bounce off of a Rockets defender

Doogan Pederson made it 10-1 when he got his third goal of the season at 12:31 of the third period. The assists on the goal went to Ollie Josephson and Jake Missuara.– Doogan Pederson jumped into the action with Red Deer’s 10th goal and his first with the Rebels.
Former Everett Silvertip Andrew Petruk got the Rockets a goal to make it a 10-2 game at 14:39 of the third period while they were on the Power Play. The assists on the goal went to Kayden Longley and Jacob Henderson.- Kelowna closed out the scoring with a power play goal from Andrew Petruck.
Shots on goal in the third period were 18-11 for the Rebels. The Rebels outshot the Rockets 56-26 in the game.
Peyton Shore made 24 saves on the 26 shots he faced for the win for the Rebels. For the Rockets Rhett Stoesser made 24 of the 30 saves that he faced before being replaced by Jake Pilon in the second period who made saves on 22 of the 26 shot he faced.
