On Tuesday night in Moose Jaw, two standout players from the Red Deer Rebels delivered career-high performances, clinching a 6-4 victory and sealing a season sweep against the Warriors.

Despite falling behind 4-1 late in the opening period, Red Deer mounted a fierce comeback, sparked by Ollie Josephson’s first-ever hat trick. Alongside Kalan Lind, the duo racked up an impressive five points each by the final buzzer.

16 year old St. Albert, Alberta native Riley Thorpe got the Warriors on the board first at 5:11 of the first period. The assists went to Ethan Hughes and Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan native Ryder Ellis.

Keaton Dowhaniuk blasts one from the point to tie the game up at 6:35 of the first period. The assists on the goal went to Kalan Lind and Jace Weir.

Ethan Hughes made it 2-1 for the Warriors at 9:16 of the first period. The assists on the goal went to Connor Schmidt and Riley Thorpe.

Riley Thorpe got his second goal of the game and 6th of the season to make it a 3-1 Warriors game at 15:33 of the first period while on the Power Play. The assists on the goal went to Connor Schmidt and Owen Berge.

Former Prince Albert Raider and 20 year old Polish Import Krzysztof Macias made it a 4-1 game for the Warriors on the Power Play at 18:58 of the first period. The assists on the goal went to Aiden Ziprick and Lynden Lakovic.

Kalan Lind scored at 19:16 of the first period to cut the Warriors lead to 4-2. The assists on the goal went to Beckett Hamilton and Ollie Josephson.With 44 seconds left in the first, though, Red Deer got one back, with Kalan Lind’s strong net drive forcing the puck home to make it 4-2 through one period of play.

Shots on goal in the first period were 20-12 for the Rebels

Ollie Jospehson cut the Warriors lead to one at 3:31 of the second period blasting a shot from the high slot while on the Power Play. The assists on the goal went to Kalan Lind and Ty Coupland.It was the Red Deer powerplay that would strike next, as barely three-and-a-half minutes into the second period, Ollie Josephson’s wrist shot from the top of the left point found its way home to pull the Rebels back within one.

Kalan Lind scored his second goal of the game and 10th of the season to make it a tie game at 16:33 of the second period. The assists on the goal went to Ollie Josephson and Jake Missura.

Shots on goal in the second period were 15-8 for the Rebels

Ollie Josephson scored his second goal of the game and 12th of the season at 11:34 of the third period on a breakaway to give the Rebels a 5-4 lead. The assists on the goal went to Kalan Lind Luke Vlooswyk.

Ollie Josephson got his hat trick goal to make it a 6-4 game at 18:59 into the empty net unassisted. That marks Josephson’s first career WHL Hat Trick.

Shots on goal in the third period were 15-8 for the Rebels. The Rebels outshot the Warriors in the game 49-26.

For the Rebels Peyton Shore made 22 saves on the 26 shots that he faced for the win for the Rebels. For the Warriors former Cowichan Valley Capital Matthew Hutchison made 43 saves on the 47 shots that he faced . Wutzke was injured also at around this time last season too.

Rebels next game is Wednesday March 12th in Swift Current against the Broncos. There is no time change for the game anymore in Saskatchewan.

For the 2025 NHL Draft, he’s widely regarded as a first-round talent, with rankings varying from the top 10 to mid-20s, depending on his recovery from a current injury and continued performance.
