The Blackfalds Bulldogs edged out the Okotoks Oilers 4-3 in a gripping BCHL showdown on March 12, 2025. Trailing 2-1 after two periods, the Bulldogs rallied in the third, tying the game before Kirill Kapustin sealed the win in a back-and-forth battle that kept fans on edge until the final buzzer.
The Oilers scored first when Jamie Hikida scored a beautiful goal to make it 1-0 with the assists going to Lindenwood commit Jacob Goudreau and Strathmore, Alberta native Cyle Clayton. All three of the players involved in that goal were former Drumheller Dragons when the Bulldogs played them in the AJHL.
Shots on goal in the first period were 11-10 for the Oilers.

Dean Toskos (whose name sounds like Costco’s when he is mentioned on play by play) scored on a scramble in front of the net to tie the game up at 4:13 of the second period. The assists on the goal went to Jason Davenport and Alex Bosland.
Brett Wilson scored for the Oilers on a breakaway to make it a 2-1 Oilers game at 7:51 of the second period. The assist on the goal went to Jackson Rowland.
Shots on goal in the second period were 13-11 for the Bulldogs.

Thomas Neu tied the game up just 30 seconds into the third period. That is the first time the Bulldogs have got the Piccolo’s Hot minute all season. I can’t even remember if they got it last season. The assist on the goal went to Antoine Gauthier and Brayden Smith.

Luke Dahlen got the Bulldogs the go ahead goal at 2:28 of the third period while on the Power Play. The assists on the goal went to Joey Melo and Nicholas DiPaolo.
Jackson Rowland evened it back up for the Oilers at 4:34 of the third period. This goal was a rebound on a Michigan attempt by Hunter Sawka. As cool as that did look I am shocked he never got a flying elbow to the head trying to attempt that. The second assist on the goal went to St. Cloud commit Brock Souch.

Jared Langdon got the Bulldogs game winning goal at 15:17 of the first period. The assists on the goal went to Oscar Bjork and Austin Borggaard.

I hope these guys not only win the awards but also win the Royal Bank Cup. Half of the Canucks roster is comprised of former Bulldogs.
