The Red Deer Rebels fell 5-1 in the first of a back-to-back series with the Calgary Hitmen Wednesday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
2024 San Jose Sharks third rounder Carson Wetsch opened up the scoring for the Hitmen with his 32nd goal of the season at 1:02 of the first period. The assists on the goal went to former Rebel Carson Birnie and David Adaszynski. Since leaving the Rebels Birnie has signed an NCAA commitment with Michigan Tech for the 2025-26 season.
Kamloops native Hunter Aura made it a 2-0 Hitmen game at 14:27 of the first period. The assists on the goal went to Oliver Tulk and Chase Valliant.

Scottsdale, Arizona native Brandon Gorzynski makes it a 3-0 Hitmen game at 5:51 of the second frame with the assists on the goal going to Connor Hvidston and Ethan Moore.
Vancouver Canucks prospect Sawyer Mynio makes it 4-0 Hitmen when he scores his 14th of the season at 7:45 of the second period while on the Power Play. The assists on the goal went to Oliver Tulk and Penguins 2024 second rounder Tanner Howe.
Ethan Moore makes it a 5-0 Hitmen game on the Power Play at 8:21 of the second period. The assists on the goal went to Sawyer Mynio and former Moose Jaw Warrior Kalem Parker.

Samuel Drancak gets the Rebels on the board at 11:25 of the third period while on the Power Play the assists on the goal went to Talon Brigley and Derek Thurston.
The Hitmen outshot the Rebels 12-7 in the third period. The Hitmen also outsho the Rebels in the game 30-22.
For the Hitmen Daniel Hauser made 21 saves on the 22 shots that he faced for the win. He also became the all time win leader in WHL history. The 20 year old netminder from Chestermere, Alberta is committed to the University of Wisconsin next season. For the Rebels Peyton Shore made 25 saves on the 30 shots that he faced. That was Shore’s 9th straight start.
