The Bulldogs lost to the Langley Rivermen 5-3 on Friday night. In all reality the Bulldogs kind of at least owe that to the Rivermen considering they shafted them huge in the Borggaard trade.

Lakeville, Minnesota Ben Portner scored just 32 seconds into the game to make it 1-0 Rivermen with the assists going to Calgary native Keenan Ingram and Dartmouth commit Ryan Schelling. That goal took everyone in the building by surprise, especially Fursten.

Former Merritt Centennial Jackson Krill makes it a 2-0 game at the 6:00 of the first period. The helpers on the goal went to 2023 Dallas Stars 7th rounder Sebastian Bradshaw and former Olds Grizzly Grey Rampton.

Antoine Gauthier scored on a breakaway for the Bulldogs at 9:02 of the first period after an awesome feed from Austin Borggaard. The other assist went to Dean Toskos.

Luke Norcross sniped one upstairs to tie the game up at 2 at 18:56 of the first period. The assists on the goal went to Antoine Gauthier and Austin Boggaard.

Shots on goal in the first period were 15-11 for the Rivermen.

Luke Norcross scored his second goal of the game to make it 3-2 Bulldogs at 5:08 of the second period. The assists on the goal went to Antoine Gauthier and Jason Davenport.

Former Battleford North Star Ben Portner got this second goal of the game at 5:54 of the second frame to tie the game up at 3. The assist on the goal went to Ryan Schelling.

Jacob Wingfield made it a 4-3 game at 17:07 of the second period with the assists on the goal went to Liam Payne and former Bulldog Shane Purves.

Shots on goal in the second period were 16-12 for the Bulldogs

20 year old Airmont, New York native Ryan Schelling made it a 5-3 game for the Rivermen at 19:43 of the third period when he dumped it into the empty net unassisted.

Shots on goal in the third period were 15-7 for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs outshot t he Rivermen in the game 42-34.

Dallas, Texas native Dylan Johnson made 39 saves on the 42 shots that he faced for the win for the Rivermen. For the Bulldogs Lukas Fursten made 29 saves on the 33 shots that he faced.

Attendance in Blackfalds was reported at 686 which again seemed a lot lower than what appeared to be there.

Bulldogs next game and last home game of the season is Saturday March 22nd against the West Kelowna Warriors, who just clinched a playoff spot last night with a 5-2 win in Okotoks (who is battling for the final playoff spot in the interior conference with Spruce Grove. The Bulldogs finish off their season with the final 2 games on the road in Sherwood Park & Spruce Grove the following weekend.
