The Calgary Hitmen secured a decisive 4-1 victory over the Red Deer Rebels in their Western Hockey League clash last night, March 22, 2025, capping off an exciting regular season matchup in Red Deer.

Okotoks native Ethan Moore opens up the scoring for the Hitmen at 6:14 of the first period while on the Power Play. The assists on the goal went to Kamloops, BC native Sawyer Mynio and 2023 Minnesota Wild 6th rounder Kalem Parker.Calgary opened the scoring on a first period power play as Sawyer Mynio’s pass banked off Ethan Moore’s skate and in.

Shots on goal in the first period were 12-11 for the Rebels

Former Sherwood Park Crusader Ethan Merner gave the Hitmen a 2-0 lead at 2:19 of the second frame with the helper on the goal going to Ethan Moore.Moore assisted on Calgary’s second goal of the game in the middle frame by Ethan Merner as he swiped Moore’s rebound at the 2:19 mark.

Shots on goal in the second period were 11-8 for the Hitmen

North Vancouver native Carson Wetsch makes it a 3-0 game at 1:39 of the third period unassisted.

Matthew Gard finally got the Rebels on the board at 3:11 of the third period shorthanded with the assist on the goal going to Jhett Larson.Jhett Larson stripped the puck from a Calgary defender in the Rebels’ zone and went on to set up Matthew Gard for a shorthanded tally to make it a 3-1 game.

Hunter Aura made it a 4-1 game at 5:36 of the third period with the assist on the goal going to David Adaszynski. That marks Adaszynski’s 100th career WHL Point.-Hunter Aura’s shot from the point less than three minutes later found its way home for the game’s final goal.

Shots on goal in the third period were 8-5 for the Hitmen. The Hitmen outshot the Rebels in the game 30-25.

For the Hitmen Daniel Hauser played the first period making all 12 shots that he faced. He was then replaced by Anders Miller for the final 2 period who made 12 saves on the 13 shots that he faced for a split win. For the Rebels Chase Wutzke made 26 saves on the 30 shots that he faced.
