Canada steamrolled Norway 8-1 at the IIHF U18 Men’s World Championship on April 28, 2025, keeping their perfect record intact. Braeden Cootes and Ryan Roobroeck led a relentless attack that Norway couldn’t handle. It was a one-sided thrashing that set the tone for Canada’s tournament run.

Mikkel Eriksen gets Norway on the board at 15:35 of the first period with the assist on the goal going to Linus Loob Trygg. Eriksen is the nephew of former NHLer Espen Knutsen.- With 4:25 left in the first, Norway scored just its fourth goal of the tournament on a nice forehand to backhand move by Mikkel Eriksen.

Lev Katzin makes it 4-1 just 43 seconds later at 17:36 of the second period with the assist on the goal going to Alessandro Di Iorio.

Victoria Royals Cole Reschny made it a 7-1 game at 10:14 of the third period with the assists on the goal going to Ben Kindel and Quinn Beauchesne. –The Victoria Royal’s Cole Reschny finds the rebound after the Calgary Hitmen’s Ben Kindel had started the breakaway to score Canada’s seventh!

Keaton Verhoeff made it an 8-1 game on the Power Play at 15:20 of the third period with the assists on the goal going to a pair of WHLers in Reschny and Kindel.
Shots on goal in the third period were 20-5 for Canada. Canada outshot Norway 64-18 in the game.
For Canada Jack Ivankovic played the first 2 periods and made 12 saves on the 13 shots that he faced. He was given a rest for the third period. In the third period Baie Comeau Drakkar’s Lucas Beckman went in and stopped all 5 of the shots that he faced. For Norway 16 year old (2028 Draft eligible) Felix Timraz-Westin stopped 39 of the 44 shots that he faced. He was also relieved in the third period for Olivers Freimanis who stopped 17 of the 20 shots that he faced.
