On the bright side Moncton didn’t show up wearing those god awful ugly third jerseys tonight. Another show of softness that the WOKE CHL did on this one. Pathetic.

In the 2025 Memorial Cup semifinal game between the London Knights and the Moncton Wildcats on May 30, 2025, London Knights forward Ryder Boulton is suspended for one game due to a pregame warmup violation during the Knights’ game against the Medicine Hat Tigers on May 27, 2025. The violation involved Boulton engaging in actions deemed inappropriate by the Canadian Hockey League (CHL), specifically noted as him skating along the red line and verbally interacting with or challenging opposing players. This was the second such incident for Boulton in the tournament, as he had previously been involved in a similar warmup violation during the Knights’ opening game against Moncton, which resulted in a $1,000 fine for the team. Following a warning from the CHL that further violations could lead to suspensions, Boulton’s actions against the Tigers led to the one-game suspension and a $2,000 fine for the London Knights. He will serve the suspension during the semifinal game on May 30, 2025.

I went and asked ai and google about Moncton’s third jersey to just to make sure a kid who died of a disease made it or it had some other significant meaning. Just to make sure the mocking of it and laughing at it was ok and all I found was this.-

The Moncton Wildcats’ black third jerseys, debuted during the 2024-25 season and worn at the 2025 Memorial Cup, have a deliberate design rooted in the team’s history and identity. These “Blackout” jerseys feature a solid black base with four large red claw marks running diagonally across the front, a nod to the team’s wildcat motif. The claw marks, a recurring element in Wildcats’ uniforms since their inception in 1995, symbolize the team’s fierce and aggressive style. The jerseys also include a black-and-red version of the primary logo on the shoulders, red-laced black collars, and player numbers in black with red outlines, with names in solid red. The design extends to matte black helmets with red claw marks on the right side and player numbers on the left.

The Wildcats have a long tradition of black alternate jerseys, but this version stands out for its bold, minimalist approach, emphasizing the claw marks without additional striping on sleeves or waist. They were first showcased on October 14, 2024, during a 5-1 win over the Charlottetown Islanders, aligning with Canadian Thanksgiving. The design aims to intimidate opponents, with the team hoping the “black cat” theme brings bad luck to rivals, as noted in reports.

However, opinions on the jerseys are mixed. Some appreciate the bold, sleek look, but others, including a post on X, criticized their practicality, noting that the black-on-black numbers and names are hard to read on TV, especially in larger rinks. This suggests the design prioritizes aesthetics over functionality for some viewers, which could explain sentiments calling them “stupid” or “ugly.” Still, the jerseys are far from plain—they’re a calculated attempt to refresh the team’s alternate look while staying true to their brand.
